Brief pulse detected by Arecibo telescope appears to come from far beyond our galaxy Could be caused by evaporating black holes or mergers of neutron stars The finding by an international team of astronomers, published July 10 in The Astrophysical Journal, marks the first time that a so-called 'fast radio burst' has been detected using an instrument other than the Parkes radio telescope in Australia. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-2688283/Have-received-signal-galaxy-far-far-away-Brief-pulse-deep-outer-space-baffles-astronomers.html WOW! |

Mmm I think I posted about this before, but thanks for the link :) Yo, you had a thread First detection of fast radio bursts outside Parkes Observatory Is that the thread?? Let me know, and will move this thread with yours. |

Yo, what do you make of this?? Scientists ‘Have No Handle On’ Radio Bursts Coming From Deep Space Arecibo, Puerto Rico (CBS TAMPA) – A succinct blip of radio waves detected from far beyond the Milky Way Galaxy amid deep space has left scientists saying they “really have no handle on†the mysterious “fast radio burst.†http://tampa.cbslocal.com/2014/07/11/scientists-have-no-handle-on-radio-bursts-coming-from-deep-space/ |

A link to the story from the Max Planck Institute Since the discovery was made from Arecibo data, and this is just the kind of thing that Astropulse is designed to find, so I wonder if we'll discover any of these bursts in our results... Edit: Looks like this was already mentioned. :^) |

Has the radio burst been recoded and analyzed for any possible content. |
