The feds sued, court agreed with them, ordered him to stop letting his cattle graze there or pay the grazing fees, he refused, feds then said that they would come and take his cattle, guy said he would shoot anyone trying to take his cattle, bunch of militia members agreed with him and that created an armed standoff. Fox News barges in, starts praising this guy because of his anti federal rhetoric in a spectacular sight of hypocrisy (its Fox News so meh). But then they found out that the guy holds some very antiquated views on race. This wouldnt have been a big deal if Fox News, like everyone else, had just painted this guy as a lunatic (because you know, he doesn't recognize the Federal government, thinks hes like the founding fathers, etc) but because Fox News had first painted him as some great patriot standing up against a tyrannical overbearing federal government they now had a PR-issue when it turns out the guy is racist.

The story begins a little earlier than you suggest.

And the king graciously offered to allow him to continue grazing his cattle on that land if he paid the king a few pieced of gold every year.

But then they found out that the guy holds some very antiquated views on race. I must admit, he could have been a bit smarter about how he handled this federal government seizure of land.

The government didnt seize privately owned land, it was effectively no ones land until it came buy and said 'now its mine'. Just because you have your cattle grazing there doesn't mean you own it.

And the courts repeatedly found themselves in favor of what the BLM was arguing, so their land seizure wasn't illegal either. It does make this guy directly in opposition of the law and yes, that gives the government the right to arrest them. The guy is a criminal.

This is correct, I am always complaining about the Christians in the Church across the street. They just can't seem to bl**dy drive, I guess they let Jesus take the wheel.

So so far the arguments are that its ok because everyone is racist in private they just pretend not to be, and that he's rich so he should be allowed to do what ever he wants.

I'm not finding these arguments convincing because A) only racist people are racist, whether it is in private or not. Racist people may find this hard to imagine, but there is a whole world out there where people are not making offensive comments about other races even though they think no one can hear them. B) It doesn't matter how much money you have, if you are racist it is still not ok.
