If it is this host here, it has downloaded workunits for your GPU and should be crunching them. A few tasks have validated already. |

If it is this host here, it has downloaded workunits for your GPU and should be crunching them. A few tasks have validated already. Why does it say this While BOINC running, % of time GPU work is allowed 0.00% |

Without knowing context on where you're seeing that, I have no idea why you're seeing something like that. You also never confirmed which computer you're talking about. I pointed out your AMD FX machine is getting workunits for your GPU and asked if that's the computer you were having an issue with. You also have this computer, an Intel Core i7 machine that doesn't show a GPU detected so it is not crunching on a GPU. We need more information to help you better. What machine is in question, and where are you seeing that line? |

Mission, Oz was trying to figure out which computer we are talking about. You screen shot doesn't show the specifics of your computer. Why don't you post the first 30 lines of the Event log of your computer. You can find it in the advance view, then go to advance tab pull down, go all the way down and click on event log. A separate window should appear, the first 30 lines gives info on your system and what it "Sees" Post that information here so we can get an idea of what Boinc is and isn't seeing about your system. It should look something like this Fri Apr 25 21:58:45 2014 | | cc_config.xml not found - using defaults Fri Apr 25 21:58:45 2014 | | Starting BOINC client version 7.2.42 for x86_64-apple-darwin Fri Apr 25 21:58:45 2014 | | log flags: file_xfer, sched_ops, task Fri Apr 25 21:58:45 2014 | | Libraries: libcurl/7.26.0 OpenSSL/1.0.1e zlib/1.2.5 c-ares/1.9.1 Fri Apr 25 21:58:45 2014 | | Data directory: /Library/Application Support/BOINC Data Fri Apr 25 21:58:45 2014 | | CUDA: NVIDIA GPU 0: GeForce GT 330M (driver version 6.0.37, CUDA version 6.0, compute capability 1.2, 512MB, 234MB available, 158 GFLOPS peak) Fri Apr 25 21:58:45 2014 | | OpenCL: NVIDIA GPU 0: GeForce GT 330M (driver version 8.24.11 310.90.9b01, device version OpenCL 1.0, 512MB, 234MB available, 158 GFLOPS peak) Fri Apr 25 21:58:45 2014 | | OpenCL CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU M 620 @ 2.67GHz (OpenCL driver vendor: Apple, driver version 1.1, device version OpenCL 1.2) Fri Apr 25 21:58:45 2014 | SETI@home | Found app_info.xml; using anonymous platform Fri Apr 25 21:58:45 2014 | | Processor: 4 GenuineIntel Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU M 620 @ 2.67GHz [x86 Family 6 Model 37 Stepping 2] Fri Apr 25 21:58:45 2014 | | Processor features: fpu vme de pse tsc msr pae mce cx8 apic sep mtrr pge mca cmov pat pse36 clfsh ds acpi mmx fxsr sse sse2 ss htt tm pbe pni pclmulqdq dtes64 mon dscpl vmx smx est tm2 ssse3 cx16 tpr pdcm sse4_1 sse4_2 popcnt aes Fri Apr 25 21:58:45 2014 | | OS: Mac OS X 10.9.2 (Darwin 13.1.0) Fri Apr 25 21:58:45 2014 | | Memory: 4.00 GB physical, 110.15 GB virtual Fri Apr 25 21:58:45 2014 | | Disk: 453.54 GB total, 109.90 GB free Fri Apr 25 21:58:45 2014 | SETI@home | URL http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/; Computer ID 7108778; resource share 100 Fri Apr 25 21:58:45 2014 | SETI@home Beta Test | URL http://setiweb.ssl.berkeley.edu/beta/; Computer ID 69758; resource share 100 Fri Apr 25 21:58:45 2014 | SETI@home | General prefs: from SETI@home (last modified 08-Dec-2013 19:43:06) Fri Apr 25 21:58:45 2014 | SETI@home | Host location: none Fri Apr 25 21:58:45 2014 | SETI@home | General prefs: using your defaults This will help us figure out what is going on. If you don't see this in the event log, then turn off Boinc, restart your computer. Restart Boinc and go through the above mention steps again to see the event log. It should now have that info. Sometimes when the computer has been on a long time, that info won't be available. A restart should cause it to reload that info. Happy Crunching... Zalster |

Oz was trying to figure out which computer we are talking about. I don't know that he meant to, but if you look at the URL in the screenshot, it shows the host ID he's looking at, which is indeed the system that has the GPU. @ Mission: I looked at my account and I see exactly the same thing for one of my GPU-enabled hosts: While BOINC running, % of time GPU work is allowed 0.00% Likely this is a new statistic put on the web that isn't being tracked by BOINC just yet. This happens a lot with new features where they have to put them in place before they can start using them. So in other words, right now that stat is meaningless and nothing to worry about. |

Oz was trying to figure out which computer we are talking about. Awesome, my CPU cooler isn't very good and I have my system OCed is there anyway I can contribute on GPU only and spare my CPU? |

Go to your Web page for Seti account preferences and uncheck your cpu. Don't forget to save your new setting. |

Awesome thanks, there was no CPU option to disable so I just changed settings to this http://prntscr.com/3e6wtm Will that work? |

What you have is the computing preferences, which are Global, meaning you set these at one project and they are then used at many. So you can set these preferences at Seti, and then also use them at Einstein, Primegrid, CPDN, Milkyway, GPUGrid, Malariacontrol.net, Collatz, ABC@Home, etc. etc. without having to set them again. Set once, use many. To fine tune these preferences you then need the Project Preferences, which in the case of Seti is: https://setiathome.berkeley.edu/prefs.php?subset=project It's here that you can set the options to use the CPU, GPU(s), which applications to run, etc. The use of the CPU or GPU is a per project preference. So you set these kinds of preferences per project. E.g. you may not want to use the CPU here but you do at Primegrid as their apps are running better, faster, stronger on your CPU. Then set Use CPU at Seti to No, and at Primegrid leave it at Yes. Simple. |

You went to the Computing preferences page. Wrong page. You want the SETI@home preferences page 2 choices down from the one you chose. |

Does SETI give me good credit on my GPU? Because it's pretty powerful |

That would depend on your definition of "good" credit. The Number crunching forum http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_forum.php?id=10 would be a better place to ask. They have many more people that are concerned about credit. |
