Hey guys, I just changed my motherboard and popped in a new processer, not I'm overwhelmed with computation errors and my gpu disappeared. (it's the same card as I had before.) after a few reinstalls, I cant fetch tasks.

Couple of questions first. Is there a particular reason you installed boinc with virtualbox? Seti doesn't require it to work. This is a desktop right? This new processor has a built in graphics, did you turn this off so that the other graphic card would be noticed? What driver are you using with this graph card? This is just a starting point, but will help give idea of what you have done so far.

You installed BOINC as a service, that does not allow you to use the GPU.

You will need to uninstall BOINC, then reinstall and go into the advanced options and deselect the service install option.

Correct it's a desktop, the processer does have a gpu, but I'm running all graphics from a dedicated video card. I'm not too sure how I would turn it off. S, no I haven't disabled it. Or I haven't purposely. The video card is Geforce 8800 GTS with the most recent driver (9.18.13.3523) There is a Radon R7 in the mail, so there'll be a new set of hardware and drivers to deal with next week. I reinstalled the manager with out the services, but still not detection of a gpu.

The VirtualBox was for other Bionic programs, but I'm not running them any more. Is that causing an issue?

No, but Arkayn did post a response and I believe what he says. I'd do what say since he is very familiar with this program. Sorry just saw you did what he say..hmm. I know when I first started on my old computer I had to turn off the graphic on the chip so that I could get the Graphic card recognized. Here's a video from youtube, just turn off the sound (he doesn't say anything) but it should help to turn off the onboard graphic card

Hope this helps.

Affirmative on the reboot. I don't show the integrated gpu under my display drivers, only the Geforce 8800. My processor tab indicates the Radon HD integration, but there are no options to disable or see/modify drivers.

...spooky

Where can I check to see if this driver works with seti? The card does, I've used it before, but along with the hardware upgrade, there is a new driver in use.

That I'm not sure about. ATI's use catalyst from what I remember. I only run Nvidias. You are right, it has to be a certain driver for those ATI's . Trying to remember where I saw where they talked about the catalyst drivers. Claggy posted something ...here is the link to the thread

http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=73953#1471061

about the 8 post down Claggy talks about ATI drivers and system requirements.

If you didn't see the integrated graphic when you looked at the device manager then you might have to go to the bios and turn it off there. Thats more difficult, i'd wait on doing that and look at the drivers first and see if that doesn't solve the problem

Hope this helps

When you looked at the Radon, did you right click it? That should bring up the options. Also, you have the monitor hooked up to the GPU and not the video port of the chip right? Sorry, just covering all the bases...

That is another known issue as documented in this thread.
http://boinc.berkeley.edu/dev/forum_thread.php?id=9088#53445

Easiest solution is to make a new folder on that drive, move all the BOINC contents into that folder and do another reinstall and point to the new folder.

Guys, the data directory is the root directory of the d: drive, something that Windows doesn't like. I have detailed before in another post how to fix that, but can't link to it as I swipe this from my phone.

Edit: thanks Arkayn.

No problem, I did a google search for GPU detection failed :error type 1 and found that thread.
