Hey guys, I just changed my motherboard and popped in a new processer, not I'm overwhelmed with computation errors and my gpu disappeared. Couple of questions first. Is there a particular reason you installed boinc with virtualbox? Seti doesn't require it to work. This is a desktop right? This new processor has a built in graphics, did you turn this off so that the other graphic card would be noticed? What driver are you using with this graph card? This is just a starting point, but will help give idea of what you have done so far. |

Hey guys, I just changed my motherboard and popped in a new processer, not I'm overwhelmed with computation errors and my gpu disappeared. (it's the same card as I had before.) after a few reinstalls, I cant fetch tasks. You installed BOINC as a service, that does not allow you to use the GPU. You will need to uninstall BOINC, then reinstall and go into the advanced options and deselect the service install option. |

Correct it's a desktop, the processer does have a gpu, but I'm running all graphics from a dedicated video card. I'm not too sure how I would turn it off. S, no I haven't disabled it. Or I haven't purposely. The video card is Geforce 8800 GTS with the most recent driver (9.18.13.3523) There is a Radon R7 in the mail, so there'll be a new set of hardware and drivers to deal with next week. I reinstalled the manager with out the services, but still not detection of a gpu. The VirtualBox was for other Bionic programs, but I'm not running them any more. Is that causing an issue? 4/15/2014 3:55:38 PM | | cc_config.xml not found - using defaults 4/15/2014 3:55:38 PM | | Starting BOINC client version 7.2.33 for windows_intelx86 4/15/2014 3:55:38 PM | | log flags: file_xfer, sched_ops, task 4/15/2014 3:55:38 PM | | Libraries: libcurl/7.25.0 OpenSSL/1.0.1 zlib/1.2.6 4/15/2014 3:55:38 PM | | Data directory: D:\ 4/15/2014 3:55:38 PM | | Running under account Ambience 4/15/2014 3:55:38 PM | | GPU detection failed. error code 1 4/15/2014 3:55:38 PM | | No usable GPUs found 4/15/2014 3:55:38 PM | | Host name: Ambience-PC 4/15/2014 3:55:38 PM | | Processor: 4 AuthenticAMD AMD A10-6800K APU with Radeon(tm) HD Graphics [Family 21 Model 19 Stepping 1] 4/15/2014 3:55:38 PM | | Processor features: fpu vme de pse tsc msr pae mce cx8 apic sep mtrr pge mca cmov pat pse36 clflush mmx fxsr sse sse2 htt pni ssse3 fma cx16 sse4_1 sse4_2 popcnt aes syscall nx lm svm sse4a osvw ibs xop skinit wdt lwp fma4 tce tbm topx page1gb rdtscp 4/15/2014 3:55:38 PM | | OS: Microsoft Windows 7: Ultimate x86 Edition, Service Pack 1, (06.01.7601.00) 4/15/2014 3:55:38 PM | | Memory: 3.23 GB physical, 6.45 GB virtual 4/15/2014 3:55:38 PM | | Disk: 225.52 GB total, 1.47 GB free 4/15/2014 3:55:38 PM | | Local time is UTC -7 hours 4/15/2014 3:55:38 PM | | VirtualBox version: 4.2.16 4/15/2014 3:55:38 PM | | Version change (7.2.42 -> 7.2.33) 4/15/2014 3:55:38 PM | SETI@home | URL http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/; Computer ID 7236193; resource share 100 4/15/2014 3:55:38 PM | | No general preferences found - using defaults 4/15/2014 3:55:38 PM | | Reading preferences override file 4/15/2014 3:55:38 PM | | Preferences: 4/15/2014 3:55:38 PM | | max memory usage when active: 1652.15MB 4/15/2014 3:55:38 PM | | max memory usage when idle: 2973.88MB 4/15/2014 3:55:38 PM | | max disk usage: 4.78GB 4/15/2014 3:55:38 PM | | max CPUs used: 3 4/15/2014 3:55:38 PM | | suspend work if non-BOINC CPU load exceeds 25% 4/15/2014 3:55:38 PM | | (to change preferences, visit a project web site or select Preferences in the Manager) 4/15/2014 3:55:38 PM | | Not using a proxy 4/15/2014 3:55:39 PM | | Running CPU benchmarks 4/15/2014 3:55:39 PM | | Suspending computation - CPU benchmarks in progress 4/15/2014 3:56:10 PM | | Benchmark results: 4/15/2014 3:56:10 PM | | Number of CPUs: 3 4/15/2014 3:56:10 PM | | 2114 floating point MIPS (Whetstone) per CPU 4/15/2014 3:56:10 PM | | 8208 integer MIPS (Dhrystone) per CPU 4/15/2014 3:56:39 PM | SETI@home | update requested by user 4/15/2014 3:56:40 PM | SETI@home | Sending scheduler request: Requested by user. 4/15/2014 3:56:40 PM | SETI@home | Requesting new tasks for CPU 4/15/2014 3:56:41 PM | SETI@home | Scheduler request completed: got 0 new tasks 4/15/2014 3:56:41 PM | SETI@home | No tasks sent 4/15/2014 3:56:41 PM | SETI@home | This computer has finished a daily quota of 5 tasks 4/15/2014 3:58:19 PM | | No general preferences found - using defaults 4/15/2014 3:58:19 PM | | Reading preferences override file 4/15/2014 3:58:19 PM | | Preferences: 4/15/2014 3:58:19 PM | | max memory usage when active: 1652.15MB 4/15/2014 3:58:19 PM | | max memory usage when idle: 2973.88MB 4/15/2014 3:58:19 PM | | max disk usage: 4.78GB 4/15/2014 3:58:19 PM | | max CPUs used: 3 4/15/2014 3:58:19 PM | | (to change preferences, visit a project web site or select Preferences in the Manager) 4/15/2014 4:01:46 PM | SETI@home | Sending scheduler request: To fetch work. 4/15/2014 4:01:46 PM | SETI@home | Requesting new tasks for CPU |

No, but Arkayn did post a response and I believe what he says. I'd do what say since he is very familiar with this program. Sorry just saw you did what he say..hmm. I know when I first started on my old computer I had to turn off the graphic on the chip so that I could get the Graphic card recognized. Here's a video from youtube, just turn off the sound (he doesn't say anything) but it should help to turn off the onboard graphic card http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sj5xkaReCHI Hope this helps. |

Affirmative on the reboot. I don't show the integrated gpu under my display drivers, only the Geforce 8800. My processor tab indicates the Radon HD integration, but there are no options to disable or see/modify drivers. ...spooky |

Where can I check to see if this driver works with seti? The card does, I've used it before, but along with the hardware upgrade, there is a new driver in use. |

That I'm not sure about. ATI's use catalyst from what I remember. I only run Nvidias. You are right, it has to be a certain driver for those ATI's . Trying to remember where I saw where they talked about the catalyst drivers. Claggy posted something ...here is the link to the thread http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=73953#1471061 about the 8 post down Claggy talks about ATI drivers and system requirements. If you didn't see the integrated graphic when you looked at the device manager then you might have to go to the bios and turn it off there. Thats more difficult, i'd wait on doing that and look at the drivers first and see if that doesn't solve the problem Hope this helps Zalster |

My processor tab indicates the Radon HD integration, but there are no options to disable or see/modify drivers. When you looked at the Radon, did you right click it? That should bring up the options. Also, you have the monitor hooked up to the GPU and not the video port of the chip right? Sorry, just covering all the bases... |

That is another known issue as documented in this thread. http://boinc.berkeley.edu/dev/forum_thread.php?id=9088#53445 Easiest solution is to make a new folder on that drive, move all the BOINC contents into that folder and do another reinstall and point to the new folder. |

Guys, the data directory is the root directory of the d: drive, something that Windows doesn't like. I have detailed before in another post how to fix that, but can't link to it as I swipe this from my phone. Edit: thanks Arkayn. |

No problem, I did a google search for GPU detection failed :error type 1 and found that thread. |
