Well, saving gas for future to warm that ice age instead of just burning it now will be good thing too. Still looks like win-win proposal ;) With out a doubt the most intelligent thing any have stated yet. I posit that in a a thousnd years people will wonder why we burned that as they may very well value petro chemicals for their use as polymers to make plastics from. |

On the subject of oil, I found it very instructive to watch The Secret of the Seven Sisters. |

That would be real good and not only for Ukraine but for Earth as whole - burning produces lot of CO2 and we have beed told constantly that warming effect grows... We will be irretrievably lost then. Nothing we can do against Mother Nature, she's the boss... rOZZ Music Pictures |

Why not burn the gas to generate electricity, which can then be used to power the plant or exported to the grid? Seems obvious to me. Life on earth is the global equivalent of not storing things in the fridge. |

I know that, i wasn't proposing that gas might forever supply our electricity needs. But in the short term rather than just burning it off, providing no useful effect, why not use it to run generators? Life on earth is the global equivalent of not storing things in the fridge. |

+1 as that old quote comes into play here... ...Waste not, want not. |

I know that, i wasn't proposing that gas might forever supply our electricity needs.Generators are great if they are in the building but that's it. It is like why not take the tons of food thrown away in the West every day and give it to the starving? The starving are not where the food is, it is a transportation problem. Setting up a buffet of leftovers in New York will not help the starving thousands of miles away. I can see the problem of transporting natural gas from every oil/gas well but burning off 30% is shocking. It is the typical make a profit every quarter to keep the shareholders happy. It is and always was a common practice to "flare" gas one could not transport. In 2011 the world "flared" 140 billion cubic meters of NG. That is enough to supply the Ukraine for 2.4 years. BTW in the Ukrainian domestic wells they "flare" 9% of what they pump. |

Setting up a buffet of leftovers in New York will not help the starving thousands of miles away. Its more than just the 'NG' from oil wells that is being flared off. Check out your local landfill. Where I used to live last year, the local landfill collected the methane produced by the decomposition of the garbage, and used it to generate electricity. Enough to provide for the bulk of electric use at the landfill. Where I live now, the methane is just 'flared off'. You are right, it is a transportation issue. Moving it by truck would not be cost effective in almost all cases. So, you need a pipeline. You know how much time it takes to build a pipeline? First you need to plan a route and secure agreements with the property owners along said route. This can take years. Then, you gotta do all those bloody environmental impact studies and get all the required permits from the Government. This takes years. Then you gotta build the thing. This can take years as well. Now, I don't support the flaring. I think it is a total waste of a finite resource. However, all too frequently, it is the only choice. I suppose that discussion of 'NG Flaring' is better than Propaganda Wars, but could we please get back to discussion of Crimea? https://youtu.be/iY57ErBkFFE #Texit Don't blame me, I voted for Johnson(L) in 2016. Truth is dangerous... especially when it challenges those in power. |

The information war is in full swing in the tense standoff between Ukraine and Russia. After watching so called "news" from there it reminds me of FoxNews and MSNBC; thinking people know it is not news but propaganda entertainment pandering to their followers. I assume no one from a "free press" gets to ask a question or do investigatory reporting. Why don't you use the Freedom of Information Act to get to the truth. The first victim of war is the truth. That assumes there was ever truth to began with. P.S. I hear so many East Ukrainians bad mouth Poland? What did they do. Or are they like Canada in the South Park movie. |

US Treasury Secretary Jacob Lew has urged other countries to contribute more to the economic rescue of Ukraine. Putin is ROTFLHAO at that. EU the "Great Satin" is behind the plow on this one; call US Jody. |

...and Europe is so squeaky clean, it's making angels weep! No, one does not, however we see this instead... NATO warns Russia ...with the EU sticking its nose in as usual... "Meanwhile, the European Commission is setting up a special "Support Group for Ukraine" to co-ordinate assistance, an EU diplomatic source told BBC News." I'd much rather those Russian youths do what they do & make the rest of the world smile/laugh than have guns in their hands! |

Even the few rebel groups we have are handled by civilian law enforcement, not the military. Unfortunately, Ukraine's current rulers used their special forces against civilians... Domestic war grows, West keeps silence? Russia's diplomates said it will not join east Ukraine and right after West lost interest to situation inside country? Now they can kill each other freely, just as Kiev's ruling forces want? http://en.itar-tass.com/world/727589 Eyewitnesses indicated that firearms, including grenade-launchers had been used but there was no immediate information on dead or wounded. Do not listen to the propaganda and bullshit russian "posts-doublets"...:) and from russian media! In the Eastern part of our country invaded saboteurs and terrorists from russian special forces! For example, today, russian "green men" in the city Kramatorsk (Donetsk region) attacked the police station! Police tried to stop them, but not equal forces! See http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VEZ5SjkroNQ They are very similar to peaceful protesting citizens, true? Same in city Slovyansk (Donetsk region) and other! Now anti-terrorist operation conducted to destroy them! There are killed and wounded on both sides... Some Russian mothers also shall weep tomorrow... But we did not invite them to our country with guns,so it...! |
