In 2010 SETI researchers found a signal that fit criteria that an intelligent form of a beam detected. It was a reoccurring signal of 72 seconds durations and it fit dopplar shift also so it was from somewhere a 100 light years away.I have not anything of this and saw a video on YouTUBE.Has anyone else heard anything.? |

Jill Tarter, found a signal, but it was not related to any intelligent form. Then there was the Wow! signal.. Sorry, can't find anything else. |

Found a few links on the matter: http://www.abovetopsecret.com/forum/thread1000282/pg1 http://strangesounds.org/2014/03/is-this-the-new-alien-wow-signal-seti-has-recently-detected-a-new-unexplained-strange-sound.html This new Wow signal seemed to come from the vicinity of a star called TYC 1220-91-1. Moreover, this new unexplained signal was detected and tracked in realtime during 10 seconds. This new “Wow!†signal exhibited the characteristics an interstellar beacon signal might be expected to, with the exception that it did not repeat. rOZZ Music Pictures |

This new “Wow!†signal exhibited the characteristics an interstellar beacon signal might be expected to, with the exception that it did not repeat. As i have ranted before on these boards. A strong signal of this type should have been recorded and analyzed for intelligence. I am led to believe that the original WOW signal is lost--never recorded for content. It is my belief that if there ever is a received signal from an extraterrestrial intelligence, it will be a one time affair that will not be there the next time that we decide to look in that direction. |

This new wow signal was near the frequency of Pi times the emission frequency of neutral hydrogen--4462.3 MHz. This is considered a good frequency to look for SETI signals. At 300 sigma, the signal was remarkably strong. The new signal was actually about 1.5 MHz higher than hydrogen times Pi. If the star was moving toward us, doppler shift could have caused the rise in frequency. I maintained that if the star in question could be shown to be moving toward us at the appropriate speed, the frequency of the signal, at its point of origin, could be calculated to be exactly 4462.3 MHz. As this would be unlikely to happen at random, it would constitute strong support for a real SETI signal. Unfortunately, the speed of approach of this particular star does not appear to be known, although the speed needed for a 1.5 MHz doppler shift is reportedly within the expected range of approach velocities of stars. Getting the speed of approach of a star is not terribly difficult. It's just that this particular star has apparently not been checked for this. It is one of about a million stars, working down to its brightness level. I'm hoping that some astronomer will become interested in this problem, find the approach velocity of the star and check to see if it supports the doppler-corrected frequency of hydrogen times Pi, and so hints strongly at a genuine SETI signal. |

Just wondered if it was a beamed signal like a carrier wave with the intelligence lost due to distance it was supposed to be 100 light years away. A very great distance regaurdless if you could get half life speed still its a vast distance. I would expect a strong carrier wave in a beameed message but if a beacon its powerful. |

I always wonder where our communications bleed out into space.Shortwave was thought to be going by the nearest stars are being hearing our noise if listening they could detect us. Shortwave at times was very strong AM music stations like Juarez Mexico probably flush toilets in Michigan. Then our deep space network might bleed over too. |
