This homemade tool made by me for a specific purpose.

What do I use it for ?

Salient points to purpose are the left hand end and the length. Note ruler has noting to do with but to show size.

First impression - some sort of aligning pin, maybe for assembling hinges or parts that pivot.

Before we get too far into this new thread, here are the rules copied from v2:

1. The previous winner posts a picture of some sort of strange-looking tool.
2. Other people guess what it is. The poster tells them if they're right or wrong, with any other comments he/she sees fit.
3. After no new guesses have been made for a couple of days, the poster should provide a hint.
4. If there is still no correct answer given, the poster may declare the panel stumped, give the answer, and post another picture.
5. Whoever posts the correct answer is the winner and posts the next tool. Go back to 1.

Do you sit on a flat car behind the engine and use this tool to move levers and valves in the engine cab? I've seen this done, but don't know the name of the tool.

@Julie - no nothing to do with wheels.

@Bill - its not control extension - my locos are tank engines so I don't need them.

@N9JFE & John - you are very close - it is to with fire/flue tubes.
