The U.K.'s Minister for Universities and Science, David Willetts, toured central Western Australia this weekend (1 March 2014) to check out Australia's Murchison Widefield Array (MWA) and the beginning of the Australian/New Zealand Square Kilometre Array Pathfinder (ASKAP), the later in conjunction with South Africa's MeerKAT forms the Square Kilometre Array telescope (SKA). http://www.news.com.au/national/breaking-news/uk-science-minister-tours-wa-ska-site/story-e6frfku9-1226842728460 It seems that he was not only impressed by the site, but the heat, kangaroos, termite mounds and the flies as well. More on the Murchison Widefield Array can be found here. And more on the Square Kilometre Array can be found here. Cheers. |
