For Irishmen they owe the government £1 a week.

At least we're helping to clear our deficit, unlike your government just adding to it :)

What a ridiculous idea, next you'll be suggesting the Lib-Dems form a coalition with the Tor...oh wait.

They're running out of sheep in Wales, better rush back there then as we don't want them to feel lonely.

Out of the Home Nations, the Welsh are more famous for liking their sheep so you can continue bleating as much as you like.

I've heard it said that red and green are complementary colours.

that is no reason to abandon professional journalistic practice

In order to abandon a thing, mustn't one previously have it?
I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that ...

Today we have another example of typical down market tabloid reporting. The Waily Fail has 40mm high headlines on it's front page proclaiming

£1 COIN IS TO BE SCRAPPED

Then underneath in 8mm print

New version will be shaped like old threepenny bit

To countenance your extreme hatred of the press, here's the same from the Baghdad Broadcasting Company.....

New £1 pound with the value of threepenny bit

What the BBC headline actually says is:

"New pound coin designed to combat counterfeiting"

No it doesn't, it also says

The new coin is based on the design of the old threepenny bit

Also a threepenny bit in old LSD money would be worth 15p today with inflation since 1971.

You have to remember Bernie that Sirius has had a good teacher being a Mail reader, shock horror statements are the province of attention seekers, and misinformation is acceptable. In fact if Sirius thinks that a £1 coin today is only worth 15p, I would be delighted to purchase a 50kg bag of them from him at that price each. Even allowing for 3% fakes I could afford a nice holiday.

how much was it worth in 1937 on its introduction?

And rather than comment on how little difference between the Mail & BBC, you attack me because of my humorous link title.

You really are so predictable!

Oh come off it.

Mail: "£1 coin is to be scrapped"

BBC: "New pound coin designed to combat counterfeiting"

One of these headlines is informative and summarises the story in question, and the other is designed to provoke outrage in people who haven't read the story yet.

624 x 351 pixels, hardly little.
