Hello all, This is my first post. Notwithstanding the rather silly discussion (in retrospect) last year on bitcoin mining, I currently have six XFX Radeon R9 280x 3GB OC Black Edition GPUs (and another two on the way) running in Linux rigs that I set up in milk crates, for Litecoin mining. For the time being, mining is profitable. But when the difficulty shoots up to highly unprofitable levels in the next 6-9 months (as some in China are rumoured to have vast farms of GPUs and still others rumoured to be developing FGPA for scrypt), I plan to put my computers to use looking for ETs. Is there a link for a GNU/linux setup running multiple GPUs? I saw the link for installing to Linux, but I have had a bit of trouble finding a step by step guide for configuring BOINC for a four GPU setup. My hardware, apart from the GPUs above, is an AMD Sempron 145, AsRock Extreme 4 motherboard, running Xubuntu 13.10 off a USB stick, Seasonic 1250W PSU, 8GB RAM. I am still a relative newbie to GNU/Linux much less Unix. To date I have followed command line recipes and tweaked GPU settings in my miner programme (cgminer), although I have started reading some books on shell script and GNU/Linux for later use. I would appreciate any help that could be provided. If the ridicule expressed in last year's bitcoin discussion (http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=68683#1256910) could be kept to a minimum, my guess is that once us "hillbilly" miners shut down, there will be a considerable amount of processing power coming your way. |

BOINC should use all 4 without any special configuration if they are the same model. If BOINC sees that one is more powerful, it will only use that one unless you use this option in a cc_config.xml file. <use_all_gpus> Info on creating the cc_config.xml file is in this FAQ: http://boincfaq.mundayweb.com/index.php?language=1&view=91&sessionID=8dcb1c990ef874ffa91920758b3d4b4f Another Fred Support SETI@home when you search the Web with GoodSearch or shop online with GoodShop. |
