My own participation in the forums is a lot less than it was by design also. The reasons are I just cant seem to find enough free time, And it seems like a chore rather then being fun to post. So I will back off some and recoup. I wont quit crunching, I plan on doing more actaully. But Ive been on the boards since late 08, And Im tired of the discord that seems to be in all forums of late. So when the Pun thread gets to over 500 I will have it locked and who ever wants to run it is more than welcome.
Old James |

My own participation in the forums is a lot less than it was by design also. That's a pity James:( I'd love to do the honors though when that time comes. Would be a real shame to let the pun thread die... rOZZ Music Pictures |

Glad to read that you'd take the reins, Julie. As for the multinational aspects, perhaps a thread or two in, say, Italian/German for punning? I, personally, couldn't pun in any language, except English, although would not shy away from an occasional one involving German-to-English hybrid. You're in an excellent position to comment on other-lang. punning, Julie. In any event, :o) ps, An advance hat-tip to James S., for an outstanding job! |

My own participation in the forums is a lot less than it was by design also. Julie my friend, I would consider it an honour to hand over the pun thread to you. I know from our shared past as mods, You will do great as the new owner. So when its time to lock the current version. You may have the job,Providing that I might make a really OFFAL pun now and then:)
Old James |

Speaking of handing off threads to new maintainers - I've had PM conversations with several of you about taking over the FreeKibbleCat thread. Even though it has Mark Sattler's name on it, I have been the principle poster and maintainer of the current and previous threads for more than a year. Given that, and Mark's periodic banishments, it seems appropriate to begin the New Year with a fresh version of the thread under my sponsorship. I will open the new thread shortly after Midnight PST if I am still awake, or shortly after I rise on New Year's Day. The thread Title and 1st post will acknowledge Mark's contribution and credit him with starting the original. Of course it will be an open thread where anyone can chime in with a comment or a link to a site which supports shelters and rescue organizations. While I fully intended to give Mark advance notice of this move, as we all know, the best laid plans of mice and men..... I hope he understands this is NOT a strike against him, just a nod to reality. Donald Infernal Optimist / Submariner, retired |

Well, Uli -- It's sad, you've become that Americanized. Perhaps, that's the ultimate fate of the increasingly-English-dominated world ... all punning will end up being done, in English. When I was in Germany, the citizenry, there, would, if necessary, swear only in "our" language. (sigh) |

Jim, I have never punned in German, so it would be very hard to learn now. English works just fine for me. Pluto will always be a planet to me. Seti Ambassador Not to late to order an Anni Shirt |
