We listen already to the frequencies that we CAN hear here on earth, the results are in the WU's you are crunching...(thats why I mentioned the waterhole).
If you are to sent a signal to somewhere else I reckon that you would omit as much disturbance and avoid as much attenuation as you could, hence the waterhole is golden...
