NBC Is Sending People to Space NBC has picked up a space travel reality series from mega producer Mark Burnett and crazed billionaire Richard Branson. The show is called Space Race and it's about people competing for a chance to go space on one of Richard Branson's spaceships. http://www.theatlanticwire.com/entertainment/2013/10/challenge-will-never-die/70174/ Mr. Branson, does not need a reality show. He has enough money. jmo __________________________ The universe wastes nothing, it's simply transferred. Lynn |

I've met Richard Branson and I certainly wouldn't describe him as "crazed", eccentric certainly, but crazed, no. Bob Smith Member of Seti PIPPS (Pluto is a Planet Protest Society) Somewhere in the (un)known Universe? |

Is this a contest to get to ride on Spaceship II or some rediculous quest to try to Fly to Mars? Bob DeWoody My motto: Never do today what you can put off until tomorrow as it may not be required. This no longer applies in light of current events. |

Is this a contest to get to ride on Spaceship II or some rediculous quest to try to Fly to Mars? Bob, just to get a ride in space. Mars, is not included. ______________________ The universe wastes nothing, it's simply transferred. Lynn |

Then it seems to me that many of those who initially expressed a desire to ride in Spaceship II have not come through with the money for the tickets. have not come through with the money for the tickets. Yeah, something like 0.5%. And, sadly, I am not one of them. :P |

have not come through with the money for the tickets. How many seats are there. 4 or 5? Yes, there are that many millionaires to fill 4 or 5 seats. :) |

Branson's Spaceship Two has six passenger seat, and as Sarge says there are more than enough millionaires around to fill that a good few times - enough to form a not insubstantial waiting list even in these pressed times. Why Not! Mars One, the company with the ambitious plan to colonize Mars with a group of people willing to take a one-way ride to the Red Plant, announced Monday that 1,058 out of more than 200,000 volunteers have made it to the second round of the application process. http://www.natureworldnews.com/articles/5475/20131230/mars-one-announces-1-058-people-advance-round-2-earn.htm |

•55 percent of the new applicant pool is male and 45 percent is female. That's more masculine than the general population, but still substantially more gender balanced than U.S. Congress. http://www.popsci.com/article/science/mars-one-narrows-list-wannabe-martians-2025-colony?utm_content=buffer3021c&utm_source=buffer&utm_medium=facebook&utm_campaign=Buffer rOZZ Music Pictures |

SALT LAKE CITY - Ken Sullivan, one of just over 1,000 candidates still being considered for a settlement mission to Mars, says he's willing to make sacrifices for the one-way trip. "I think most people think I'm crazy," Sullivan said. "My wife is probably one of those." hat list has been narrowed down to 1,058 candidates for one of the four final positions. http://www.mtshastanews.com/article/20140112/NEWS/301129951/10113/LIFESTYLE update.. |

Branson says space flight ready this year. UK businessman Sir Richard Branson has reiterated his claim that the first Virgin Galactic flight into space will take place later this year. I guess only time will tell. Cheers. |
