If they really wanted to thwart the Presidents intent, they'll say 'yes' and leave it up to him.

Congress also passed some law in favor of a strike using chemical or WMD.
Lynn

Sounds like Tea Party rhetoric to me.
You could at least give a link to the law passed instead of nothing.

Yes, there was the iraq war of wmd, that passed the house.
Then this one, don't think the senate passed it??

House:
The WMD Intelligence and Information Sharing Act of 2013 was introduced on April 12, 2013 by Rep. Patrick Meehan (R, PA-7).[4] It was referred to the United States House Committee on Homeland Security and the United States House Homeland Security Subcommittee on Counterterrorism and Intelligence.[4] On Friday, July 19, 2013, House Majority Leader Eric Cantor announced that H.R. 1542 would be on the schedule for Monday, July 22, 2013.[5][2] On July 22, 2013, the bill passed the House in Roll Call Vote 375: 388-3.[4]

OK my bad.
I'm guessing you meant to say something like..

"Congress also passed a law in favor of a strike against anyone using WMDs."

I can be so literal sometimes that i'm glad i don't read the bible.

And Gary, he doesn't YET have the power that Kim Jung Un has, but he's working on it.

Kim Jung Un, and Assad, would machine gun any congress person who didn't vote yes. That is a dictator. Anything else and you are abusing the language, or some less than honorable description can be applied to you.

Obama's Gamble

"The decision has left many commentators questioning his leadership and asking how Obama managed to box himself in.

But to have taken action without the UN, without the UK, without Congress and without the American people's support would have been very uncomfortable for a man who came to office vowing to end America's foreign wars."

Interesting points.

Now I don't really want to agree with a Syrian minister, but he might have a point.

You may have read that the Australian Opposition leader commented about the Syrian situation as follows.

"It's not 'goodies' vs 'baddies' over there, it's baddies vs baddies".

While I normally have no time for this blokes politics this time I totally agreed with him and said so on Facebook.

My nephew came back with the comment "In the Middle East, the enemy of our enemy is our enemy." I think he nailed it totally.

We will never know who actually used the Sarin gas in Syria. I find it hard to believe the Assad regime` would do so knowing Europe and the US are looking for the slightest excuse to nail him. There is also the in fighting between between the different cliques in the rebel camp and some of them would be quite happy to kill civilians so the West would take action against Assad. It could have even been the Mossad for the same reason. i.e. Destroy Syria to further isolate Iran.

Whatever way, this is one conflict the West should stay right out of.

Shades of Masstrict/Lisbon......

Bandwagon gearing up for a "Yes" vote

French MP's to "see" evidence

Who's the target?

US Readers react

What's so special?

"My guess is that there will be renewed emphasis on the role of the French, the Turks and perhaps others. It will strengthen the hand of those in Congress who argue they should have their own vote. "

For something that's been sopposed to be on the back burner.......

...or is it all waffle?

They have suffered too many slip-up's recently to go and risk doing something
like this. Get caught out doing this will loose them both the political and
military technical support they get coming from the west.

Well just look at how he's governing.

Same a Nixon, Reagan, Bush, Shrub. No change at all. Use the presidential order power which has been given to him by congress.

Oh, forgot Ford and his wage and price controls!

Well, it could be extended back including all since Wilson, or before, if you wish.

A Sarin Cannister/Container/Vessel can be put in a Car/Truck and driven to target.

Or use a Donkey, Horse, Ox Cart, Strong Man's Back.

Hustler and all other Pols and Wonks are sayin' the Reason for War, Limited Engagement, Strike, Spanking, etc. is to:

GET RID of the DELIVERY Systems for The GAS.

DUH?

As Stated Above. Don't need planes, missles, artillary, trebuchets, etc. to Deliver The Gas. To Destroy them does not stop the capabilities for Use.

So, why Strike for The Reason of Gas Delivery Stoppage?

Pitiful and The Rest of the Pitifuls are arguing for Engagement Only Because of Gas Delivery Means.

Car, truck, donkey, etc.

Jeez. Man 'O Live

fO shO

'it'

May we All have a METAMORPHOSIS. REASON. GOoD JUDGEMENT and LOVE and ORDER!!!!!

Catch-22

"If you damage these assets badly enough you risk significantly altering the military balance on the ground in favour of the rebels. And this is something that Mr Obama has apparently ruled out. Maybe he is changing his mind as he seeks to win over a sceptical Congress."

....and there lies the crux of the matter.
