Message 1411264 - Posted: 4 Sep 2013, 6:14:18 UTC - in response to Message 1411221.

Secretary of State John Kerry was forced Tuesday to repeatedly stress that U.S. troops will not be sent to the ground in Syria after an early comment that appeared to leave that option on the table.

If we go strike Syria, have a feeling there will be boots on the ground. Kerry, fumbled his way out of the troops on the ground. Sirius B, you might be right after all.

Destabilised Middle East

When was it ever stable or stabilized?

Well, since the yanks went in, a lot less than what it was.

Might I remind you that the Brits drew the line in the sand after WW1, With no regard for differant tribal or sects in mind.

That being said, Why dont we just ask them to redifine the borders they want.

EDIT- You can bet that the midterm elections will be rife with accusations of WHO voted to stick our nose in Syria. As the majority of Americans say stay out of it.

Will my edit count against me?:)

Only if Sirius is watching. He has this little black book where he notes down certain details that he will challenge you with later. Keeps him out of the pub when he doesn't have any driving work.

And I thought he did it in the pub. There you go learn something every day;-)

That's because the issues are too serious to joke about, even for me.

That is correct, I'm pleased to hear you say so.

Isn't education marvelous :-))

Umm?...wasn't that roughly the same statement declared regarding Vietnam all them
years ago???...Too, isn't there also a common connection between then and now?...
err' France and America.

Why doesn't somebody else try to do something about this?

I do not have any facts to support but my logical thought is everybody is basically broke and can not afford to do much with out hurting their own.

I feel we would better survive a WW3 down the road than one tomorrow.

U.S. wanted a UK "quick" vote

Somebody's not going to be very happy tomorrow.....

"But having ruled out any UK involvement, Mr Cameron could find himself peripheral to discussions about military preparations, our political editor said."

And here's the reason why he lost.....

"but some MPs believe the move was premature and they were asked to vote before the full intelligence picture was clear.

All Bombs are Made of Chemicals and They Go Boom due to Chemical Reactions.

So All Bombs are Chemical Weapons.

Scene: "Regular" Bomb Blasting Human to Smithereens. Human, still conscious, sees their leg and arm on the ground a few feet away, and sees their guts flopped out of their torso. Bleeding out, feeling "cold" and thinking, Gee I wonder if a "Real" Chemical Weapon would hurt this bad? Hmmm, if I had a choice. Hmmmm. Last breath. Dead.

What about the 100,000 plus killed in Mexico? Many of them stuffed in Vats of Acid(Chemicals). Chemicals and Reactions sent the bullet(s) into their bodies.

You can certainly come across some crap articles in the UK press these days.
One in particular involves the parliamentary NO vote last week. The newspaper
article goes to state that the UK is now struggling to find a role in the world.
So having a YES vote last week hence potentially starting WW3 is what this
writer would consider to be a valid role seeking move by the UK then???

One pudit on the local radio came up with an interesting question, "They were
bombing them and firing rockets at them and the West did not respond. But when
they then started to gas them then the West decided this was a good time to move
against Syria. But it was all killings in the end, which ever method they used,
so why did the West not make a move when the first bombs started to drop"?

...I suppose there is some logic to this question since all three methods do
result in mass death.

Why isn't anybody else talking about striking but not sending troops into Syria?

As one who has spent time in some of the crappy places on this earth and as someone who could possibly be called back to active duty, why is it always the U.S. that has to deal with the problems of the planet?

I mean, if we go in, we could strike the match that starts WWIII. And if we don't go in, this smoldering mess could grown into WWIII also.

So the question for me is, do we start it now or wait for it to start itself?

Why doesn't somebody else try to do something about this?

Yes, why should it be America, come to that why should it be the UK, then on
the other hand why should it be the West at all? If the West stands back then
how can there be a WW3?...can only be one if we do decide to get involved though.

You bring up a very interesting point; many are killed by their own governments and yet the world doesn't seem to notice. I once worked with an African transfer student who told me about the genocide that was committed in his home country of Algeria, yet I had no knowledge of the happenings he was describing, and almost no reports on it from the world at large. He was quite angry that the United States government would respond to things like Iraq and Iran, but failed to assist others who felt they could benefit from intervention as well.

But I digress. What do you believe is the reason why this is? I'd like to hear your thoughts.

I was hoping for your thoughts in general why a reaction isn't pressed for things like what happened in Mexico as you mentioned. Now I know you try with every post to slam Democrats and Liberals especially (and Atheists too), but we know that what you brought up isn't limited to just the current Administration. Other things happen in other countries even if Obama is President or not.

So if I may rephrase, why do you think only specific news gets a reaction from the US but not others?

Near instant mass communications, and that in one blow over a thousand were killed many of them children.

A hundred years ago reporting of this type, even just one channel, would have taken at least a week to get out.

Even 70 years ago how long did AP take to get this famous photo by Joe Rosenthal onto the front page of the morning newspapers. And it was of a re-enactment several days later.

It's not colour, it's not a moving image, it was not in real time, it's just a simple black and white photo.

But many terrible things are still happening to this day that don't get the same immediate gratification in the news as other events do. The example I brought up of the exchange student was only a few years ago, and yet no news coverage or response is given from the rest of the world.

To be fair, I had no way to verify the veracity of the student's claims, as without mass attention, I'm at the mercy of one person's perception. I have no reason to doubt his recollection, but that's about all I have to go on.

The exchange student suspected the same thing. He believed it was because his country had no vital export to the US.

It 'is' is Beyond Obvious, DEATH of The Innocents is NEVER the Driving Force behind Any Reactions to InHumanity to Humans.
