What does the NSA have anything to do with it? You sure you're not "Brahms & Liszt"? Codes, cracking of, this is 2013 not the 1940's, now who's stuck in the past? |

Secret communication & if the NSA hold copies of the keys? |

Secret communication Useless. Also useless in practical communications. If the fiber is long enough it will need repeaters. The repeater won't pass the quantum information. |

... & if the NSA hold copies of the keys? No need to, as succinctly summarized by XKCD: Politics is what we allow it to be... Martin See new freedom: Mageia Linux Take a look for yourself: Linux Format The Future is what We all make IT (GPLv3) |

Meanwhile, we have Orwell's 1984 for anyone on the inside of the NSA: NSA analysts 'wilfully violated' surveillance systems, agency admits ... various agents had used the NSA's controversial data monitoring capabilities to spy on love interests... ... And that's only what is being admitted to... Politics is what we allow it to be... Bottom line is. If you want to keep a secret, don't tell it. Bob DeWoody My motto: Never do today what you can put off until tomorrow as it may not be required. This no longer applies in light of current events. |

Use a one time pad for your encryption. Better yet learn Navajo and a one time pad.
Old James |

Politics is what we allow it to be... I voted for a man who pledged 'to vote against increase in fees in the next parliament and to pressure the government to introduce a fairer alternative' as did many other students. And i must say he's doing a bang up job! Life on earth is the global equivalent of not storing things in the fridge. |

Use a one time pad for your encryption. Better yet learn Navajo and a one time pad. We used Welsh to befuddle the rest of the world in the 1940's. Just the accent alone is enough to defeat most eavesdroppers!... There's an excellent XKCD for your example. It also highlights the problem at both ends of the link even if the link itself is completely "secure": XKCD: Code Talkers Hoka hey!? Politics is what we allow it to be... We used to pass notes in shorthand at school to foil the teachers if one was intercepted. Life on earth is the global equivalent of not storing things in the fridge. |

Use a one time pad for your encryption. Better yet learn Navajo and a one time pad. About 45 years ago I was playing rugby for a club that was about 50% British Ex Pats. After a match I was having a beer with an English man on our team. I said to him "Ian is yelling things and I can't understand a word he is saying." His response was "Don't pay him any attention, he's Welch, no one can understand what he says." LOL, Welch may be the answer to security. |

Use a one time pad for your encryption. Better yet learn Navajo and a one time pad. I had a laugh at at that one. A friend of mine moved to London from the states and married Cockney girl. When the wife and I had a visit to England we spent a few days with them. If she talk slow we could mostly understand her, But when she got excited not even her husband could tell us what she was talking about.
Old James |

That's Welsh; not "Welch". The Welsh are a proud people whose roots and language go back well over 2500 years to the ancient Celts. Welch's makes grape juice. Cymru am byth! Join the PACK! |

How long before the Yanks become Pariahs within the international community? Anyone else remember this? http://news.cnet.com/obamas-new-blackberry-the-nsas-secure-pda/ Seems we now know the reason thanks to Mr. Snowden. |

That's gonna upset Martin :) "The Sectera runs a mobile version of Microsoft Windows, including versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Windows Media Player. The NSA claims that the installed versions of Internet Explorer, WordPad, and Windows Messenger are good enough for data that's classified at a level of Secret. Presumably the federal spooks have found a way to protect IE from the numerous security flaws that continue to plague the Internet's most popular browser." |
