I tried to install Boinc CLI as a windows service using -install, and got the following error: CreateService Failed - The specified service has been marked for deletion. 0x430 Huh?!? William D. Gagliardi |

It is most likely a permissions issue. Try either resetting the permissions on BOINC's directory or changing the credentials the service runs under. BOINC WIKI BOINCing since 2002/12/8 |

Just log as another user with administrative rights and try again. This has worked for me. |

I've encountered this problem so many times I can't remember how many. There have been threads on it in the past, none of the suggestions have worked all of the time. It happens when logged on as the local computer administrator as well as any other account on the machine. What I finally did was to export the registry from a machine that was working and import it to a machine which I want to install CLI as a service (requires a reboot). This has worked 100% of the time for me. What you want to export/import is: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\BOINC > I tried to install Boinc CLI as a windows service using -install, and got > the following error: > CreateService Failed - The specified service has been marked for deletion. > 0x430 > Huh?!? > |

Thank you for the idea, I'll give it a try. Yes, I do log in as administrator when I get that error. William D. Gagliardi |
