It is probably something non-ET, but still... What is it? I was talking with a friend who is also running SETI@home currently and I saw this and screenshotted it. Does this happen often or what? It's crazy. It could be a glitch or interference of some time. Excuse me if this is a common thing, I just started using SETI@home again. You can't even see the text! Here's my current tasks and whatnot as well. Sorry about the giant images, I have a giant screen. |

Should I upload the workunit file here? I have it. Am I even allowed to do that? |

What the snap shot is showing is the progress on ploughing through the calculation, the thin vertical line are indicators of the relative strength of the signal at the various time/frequency combinations. They don't mean anything on their own, but when correlated with other signals from the same place in the sky a picture is slowly developed of the potential for there being a "radio intelligent" life form at that location. When your computer has finished its calculation the results will be uploaded automatically, compared with those for the same work unit returned by someone else and credit awarded appropriately. The result will then be filled away and eventually used in the big correlation exercise that is plodding on in the background (and that's where the "real" science is being done) Bob Smith Member of Seti PIPPS (Pluto is a Planet Protest Society) Somewhere in the (un)known Universe? |

What do you need? The .vlar, or .vlar_0_0 or what? Edit: This is to Michael |

@Michael Does that look normal, or does his output show signs of the same thing as mine? |

On another note, it happened for only a short period of time during the thing. It was normal, did this, and went back to normal just as quickly. |

Please email me the task, I'd like a look with some visualisation ideas I'm experimenting with. ( contact at jgopt dot org ) "Living by the wisdom of computer science doesn't sound so bad after all.
