i have installed bionc on my laptop that has a nvidia ion 2 chipset... i have finally found drivers that work properly but thus far i haven't found away to make the boinc manager use my gpu to crunch numbers.. anyone have ideas?

AFAIK, a Linux GPU app hasn't been developed yet for Seti V7, though it is/was being worked on.

i am running seti at home on my netbook running ubutu12.04 right now... it just doesn't do the screen saver mode yet

We do have x41g available, but it does not have all of the newer options that Jason has been working on.
