My PC just started to slow down, and the temperature (always monitored!) is climbing. This normally happens when BOINC comes on. I am actually working on here right now, though. My preferences are to suspend all work when the PC is in use, yet I have an astropulse job running and taking up 20% of my CPU. According to BOINC manager, this job is suspended while the PC is busy. He speaketh with forked tongue! It isn't suspended at all... Anyone else ever seen this? Never noticed it before... Also, why is my signature not being added here? Phil. |

Do you have local preferences set to match the main preferences? In advanced view, select tools/computing preferences/processor usage and ensure that the boxes for "while computer is in use" and "use GPU while computer is in use" are UNchecked. Click OK to exit the section, then select advanced/read local prefs file to update. I see your allprojects sig. Did you perhaps choose "don't display sigs" in your forum preferences? |

Known problem - 'Astropulse ATI not stopping on PC use': http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=71581 They (ATI Astropulse developer (Raistmer) and BOINC developers) work to fix it. See these 2 posts (by Ageless and Raistmer): http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=71581&postid=1377402#1377402 http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=71581&postid=1378526#1378526 Â - ALF - "Find out what you don't do well ..... then don't do it!" :) Â |

Except that the OP is using an NVidia 6xx card. I know there are other issues with BOINC API and job termination with NVidia cards running opencl, but the non-suspension issue, AFAIK, is an ATI-only issue. |

Near as I can tell, though, while it addresses the suspension issue, it doesn't address the forced termination issue. Off topic for this thread, I know. |
