Are you using an account manager, and if so, which one? BAM! or Gridrepublic?

Did you want to use an account manager? An account manager is a third party website through which you can add multiple projects at once.

If you just wanted to add the Seti@Home project by itself, better do so with the Add project wizard (BOINC Manager->(Tools->)Add project or account manager->Add project->Select Seti@Home from the drop-down list->Yes, existing user->fill in your email address and password as you did for registering here->OK (or Finish, I forget which it is).

thanks alot for your reply, i am not using an account manager ( i think ? ), I've already added the project from the wizzard (which was the first one I did actually after installing BOINC), but its the only one that never got started ! i like the fact it is really easy to add one project but there's no option of deleting any ! which is what i've tried after reding your reply... if my set up was wrong im guessing nothing should work ? but thats not the case .. all the tasks downloaded from SETI are unavailable ... although they keep tryin to send me some .. its so unfriendly for people like me who dont know much about I.T., it seems its not for everyone .. very disapointing

To get rid of the project:

In BOINC Simple View, select Seti@Home from the drop-down menu, then choose Remove from the Project Commands button.

In BOINC Advanced View, go to the projects tab, select Seti@Home, click Remove on the left side.

All the tasks that downloaded ended in a download error due to something that your Internet Service Provider does. It recompresses image files. So then you get messages like:
<message>
app_version download error: couldn't get input files:
<file_xfer_error>
<file_name>seti_605.jpg</file_name>
<error_code>-200</error_code>
</file_xfer_error>

This can be fixed by going into your account->Computing preferences->edit, setting "Skip image file verification?" to yes, saving the changes with the Update preferences button, opening BOINC Manager->selecting Seti@Home->Update.
