All the people working on the project are teachers and students volunteering their time. While the computers run 24/7 the volunteers can only work on the project during the hours that Berkeley is open. So repairs of weekend outages have to wait until the school opens Monday morning. Most Universities close and lock the doors after eight at night, at five in the evening on Saturdays and all day on Sundays. Keep in mind Berkeley is in the Pacific Time zone. Also the teachers and student have greater priorities at the Moment. They are preparing for finals next week. Then they will be on winter break for three weeks. Winter Quarter won’t be starting until January 2nd. So during the break all the work they will be doing on Seti will be on their own time during their vacation. Please forgive them if repairs it get a little slow for the next month. Personally, I have nothing but admiration for their dedication. Especially when they’re doing it on there own time. Come on grew up. World projects like this are not only in the hands of students. They surely are useful and supportive, but there are a bunch of people who are on a payroll too. With important projects like this and thousands of people involved over the world I'm totally NOT happy with the cheerleader attitude. No offence, just an opinion. Greetings from Belgium ;-)) |
