I am in the market for a new system for home. I am principally a Gamer, but do a LOT of Photo editing.
My work is with Macs. My home is with Both PC and Macs.
The ease of use points me toward the Mac.
Which way should I go, and WHY???

Thanks;

If that's the case, then the dual Opteron would be the way to go; excelent gaming machine & an even better Seti cruncher IMHO.
As far as photo editing goes, these days any half decent system with plenty of RAM is more than up to the job.

Go with the Mac...
Why? ...because it's a Mac!

Unfortunately, most games are written for Win32 these days.... still.

As such, the dually Opteron box would be your best bet, simply for compatibility reasons.

I'd personally LOVE a dual-G5, though.

For photo editing, definitely the Mac. For gaming the PC. I'm not a serious gamer, but if I was, my biggest consideration would be the graphics card, more then the CPU. Ask yourself if the games you want to play are available on the Mac. (more and more are) If so, then get the Mac with the biggest, baddest video card you can afford. If not, and if photo editing is secondary to gaming, then go with the PC. I definitely prefer the Mac for photo editing however, and just about anything other then gaming.....

I dont now how is Photoedition on the Mac but if i read here the post i think it must be perfect.

But you can also edit photos whit the Opteron. There are good programs like Adobe Photoshop or JASC paintshop for Photoedition.

Maybe its more fun to edit photos an the Mac but on the Win u can play all games, on Mac only few.

For Digital Photos u need 1 GB of RAM and more if you make different things at one time.

for Games I would also use 1 GB. And a godlike video card like nvidia 6800GT or higher, to have realy fun. ;)
