hi,
I downloaded the latest manager and I added seti@home as the project.
but it wont start. the manager just says that he is getting new work units from server but nothing happens..maybe its a firewall problem?

I set it to run always as I want this pc to work 24/7.
what did I miss?

The project assigned you two workunits about 40 minutes ago. If they aren't running yet, they may be downloading. Check your transfers tab. We're coming out of regular Tuesday maintenance, so communications lines are extra busy and will be for several hours.

ah well it just started some min ago.

since I wanted to use my gtx 285 and my 9500 gs gfx cards at the same time:
how can I see which card is being used?
temperatures of both cards are not getting hotter..
also my cpu isnt under full load?

is it possible to use 2 both cards and the cpu at the same time?

BOINC will automatically use ONLY the most efficient GPU; in your case, probably the 285. You CAN use both cards at the same time, but it would require you to create and modify an XML file with the appropriate instructions. Unless you know what you're doing, this isn't recommended.

EDIT: Just looked at your system. You've only received 1 GPU workunit and 1 CPU workunit so far. So your CPU wouldn't be running at much more than 50%. BOINC is recognizing only the 285, but your drivers are WAY out of date. You should go to NVidia's site and download a more recent driver.

isnt there any tutorial or instruction for this?
as I really would like to use both cards.

Ill do that.

Yes, see Client configuration in the BOINC wiki.

As soon as your computer has downloaded more than one CPU task, your other core will work too.

There isn't much you can do to achieve that, besides being patient. ;-)

ok thanks for information.

I had 2 tasks running, 1 on gfx card and 1 on cpu.
the gfx card finished the task already and the cpu is still working.
nothing odd there but why doesnt my graphics card take any new tasks?

or is it just taking so much time to get new tasks?

Yes.

too bad.
thats leads to much unused cpu/gpu capacity in my case (yes, I know a simple core 2 duo and gtx 285 have not that much power like other systems here)
I hope that its not normal to wait so long for new units? if so I may be switching to another project.

With over 500,000 clients all pounding SETI@Home's 100Mbit internet, yes, it is normal to wait so long for tasks.

Why switch? BOINC is great at balancing work between multiple projects. It doesn't have to be an "all or nothing" affair. In fact, since SETI@Home states right on the front page that there may be times when you're unable to get work, they recommend you join multiple projects.

Well, you've got 58 workunits in progress now, so your dilemma is solved, for now.

haha thats true :)

I just cant figure out how to include my 2nd graphics card.
I read the link given by user Gundolf Jahn about client configuration in the wiki but its a bit confusing. can anyone help me to get my other gpu working? or is there any link for beginners like me as Im totally new to this stuff :)

edit:
is this maybe what Im searching for :

<use_all_gpus>0|1</use_all_gpus>
If 1, use all GPUs (otherwise only the most capable ones are used). New in 6.6.25

Im not sure..

Yes, see Client configuration in the BOINC wiki.

In such a case, it's better to point at the Nvidia CUDA & ATI Stream (CAL) FAQ, since those give the correct information on how to set up the cc_config.xml file, with the correct flag in this situation, while the page you point to just tells the general information about the cc_config.xml file, not what this user should put in it at this time.
