The 2.5 gigapixel photo

TNO has produced the largest digital panoramic photo in the world. So, what do we mean by large? After all, modern consumer cameras can easily take a picture with 5 million pixels. Well, we are talking about a photo of completely different dimensions. One with 2.5 billion pixels - that's 500 times more pixels. If this photo were printed, it would measure 6.67 m by 2.67 m (300 dpi). The photograph shows Delft and its surroundings in the autumn of 2004. It was taken the top of the Electrical Engineering faculty of Delft University, at a height of about 100 m, by TNO.

It was on a balcony far on the pic but I don't remeber where exactly.
Well it looked like a cat. On another near balcony there was a man
sitting on a chair. That's all I remember. Too bad there is only one
pic, it's really funny to explore like that.

God NO ! I hate these paparazzi, They are useless. I would
rather see it in the hands of National geographic or any
other organisations that employ "real" photograph.
Heu...Perhaps some paparazzi sometimes work for those?

A great project would be to have every single place on earth
being pictured using this technology, and being accessable
to public view via the Internet.

Imagine all the things you could see, place you could virtualy
visit from the comfort of your home. It surelly would not replace
real travelling but not everyone can affoard to travel.

Anyway I like that city. Very neat and clean, organize, calm, etc.
A typical Northern Europe city.
