I'm very confused about some of my work units...
I can't fathom why I didnt get credit!

Somebody please explain why, for instance, WU# 3838446 had 3 Copies Sent Out, 3 Successes Returned, but only two of the people were awarded credit?!

If you click on your Result ID and look under Validate State you will see it's marked Invalid - meaning the Validator compared all 3 results and yours did not match the other 2 results.

Here are 2 threads that will help:
<p>why do I get 0 credit when I claimed 40?
</p>
<p>Do not get credits etc</p>

It's never fun to waste your cpu time but it happens to everyone once in a while.

Regards :-)

Thanks for those links; I didnt know about "validate state"

But looking through these posts.. one thing seems true.. it is only the last WU that does not get awarded credit.. so I'm wondering if the Invalid work units are being caused by some aspect of the transport function.

Take a look at This One. After searching through 50 WU's, I found one that wasn't the last "cut" but was the last returned.

To me it says there is some sort of intermittent problem on the recieving end (as opposed to there being a problem with the cutting end).

Since all of my computers run non-overclocked at 45 degrees centigrade or less (cpu temp) with premium memory and pass all diagnostic software I've been able to run, and I still gets an occasional "invalid", I suspect my computers are not the problem. But there's know way to know for sure, since the project doesn't seem to want to respond to questions or concerns about validation.

My suggestions, in earlier posts, of a "seti like" self test using embedded data in the seti client (to circumvent download/upload/Berkeley server problems didn't receive much interest, I guess no one really cares that much and it's a dead issue.

I was a little surprised, since I thought Seti was based on some pretty intensive mathematical analysis so any released software should be accurate on a stable system. Guess "two out of three" suffices.

You might put this suggestion in the Wish List.

I took a look at mine that were successfully completed and received 0 credit and all were the last numbered either _2 or _3 etc.

Other users have reported this also in some previous threads.

EDIT: One additional thing was that I was using Boinc 4.13 and the others were using 4.09 and all were using Seti 4.05 except for 1 Linux user using 4.02. No 0 credits with Seti 4.07 yet.

Would it be possible for someone to write an add on program that could do this function?
