I'm wondering if the disk array crash on the upload / download directories has resulted in the loss of significant amounts or types of data. Was there any loss of scientific data, WU results or WU's ready for distribution? (Certain disk array configurations or system backup strategies can mitigate this, but I'm not familiar with how things are run over there...) |

If past history is any indication, then I would guess that there will be some data and credit results go into a black hole. Hopefully it will be minimal, since I think they caught it pretty quickly. I know that there have already been many failed / unrecoverable uploads by many users, when the array first went down. Those wu's are lost for sure and would therefor have to be resent. ----------

Join the Overclockers.com SETI Team! |

The fact that it 'locked up hard' is probably a good thing actually. It probably means that clients weren't able to connect so they couldn't upload their results which means they were still sitting on the client hard drives when the project came back up. I think the only results in question are the ones that uploaded while the array was 'sputtering'. I think that is a technical term :) A member of The Knights Who Say NI!
