Sorry for bad English
We, people here at Russia are very worried about fast military grow of China. As you know, Chinese military has grow very much last decade and now it's world most powerful army after United States. They training quick marshes at distanсe of 2000 (two thousand) kilometers. Where to?
Our TV remains silent about this, but people from Siberia and especially far East Siberia are very worried about this. 2012? )))

I know in the past Russia was the target of China but I don't think it will be this time as long as Russia remain neutral. This time I think their goals will be the United States or at least countries near by that are supported by the United States. China knows Obama is weak and will try to take advantage of that. On the other hand, Russia would resort to atomic weapons if invaded and that is the type of war that China is not interested in. Keep watching but I think you are safe.

Maybe, but what for this quick marshes for 2000 km? It' not navy or air forces needed for war with United States or any country around except us. If they invade quickly, what we will do? Bomb our own territory with nuke? I suppose no. Bomb them and receive the same in european part which chinese don't need anyway?

Em..., my granpa was at WW2. I dont want to have his experience.

And anyway, USA is not the enemy onyone would mess to except crazy terrorists. We are different. All our history is different ((( Epecially now. You can criticize your army forces as you wish, but the true is that it have trained veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan war and wery good technical weapons.

No i'd assume The Russian federation would bomb all the major cities in China. with no infrastructure the Military would soon fold. however 500 million or more dead in a matter of hours would give the Russians a bit of bad publicity. Just think of it in the terms of the US in World War II against the Japanese. If they weren't willing to face the ultimate end of their country then they shouldnt have started a war. In short, Don't start something you don't intend to see through to the end.

Heck I bet if the Chinese invaded the Russian territory, the US would push NATO to add Russia to NATO and protect them as a friendly country.

Russia would have no problems sending atomic bombs to Beijing/Peking if invaded and that is something that China is not interested. On the other hand, I don't think the United States would use atomic bombs unless we were directly attacked with atomic bombs. This opens up many targets that could be attacked without danger of an atomic war.
There is one other option that exist for a large military and that is to control their own population. They are going to reach the point in a few year where the population will want more freedom and China may need the military force to keep their own population under control.

Not so simple.
We invaded Georgia in 2008. There's many arguments is it right or is is wrong from both sides, but the true is that it was. Annd no response from NATO except criticizing. (I never supported this crazy desicion. We should go in, take people and go out). So i guess in matter of chinese invasion we are on our own.

It's what we call high stake poker. Taking a big risk because you think you will receive a large reward.
All countries would be far better off if they didn't have a military. They are costly to have and there are far better things to do with the money. Human nature being what it is causes us to need a military to protect against someone who sees and advantage to not playing by the rules.
For many years we feared your country for much the same reason you fear China. It was not the people we feared but the government. In the end, the people were able to get control of your country and much of the reason for that fear is gone. I hope some day that can happen between you and China.
As for Georgia, we had something like that with the American civil war. Our reason was different than yours, and the south fired the first shot. The winner writes the history books so could our civil war been solved by another solution? We will never know.

We will never know.

Deep phrase. It gave me hard thinking. Yes, you right, i should stop worry about things i cannot change or prepare to. I'm no military, its not my job. I should do what should be done and be what should be. For the case of war i already have enough experience with hunting and shooting.
