Hi, I downloaded 4.13 yesterday and the UL are now successful, but I noticed that as soon as the program begins to run it says it is downloading 4.05 anf then says it is computing using 4.05. I have uninstalled everything 2 times now and reinstalled 4.13 again, but it keeps auto downloading 4.05 and using 4.05 to compute according to the message window. Is this OK? Is 4.13 really still 4.05, with some patches?
Thanks

4.13 is the BOINC client version, while 4.05 is the seti client version. All work is done on the seti client boinc is just an overseer program. You can join other boinc project which have their own version number.

Thanks for the reply. I get it now. I am using BOINC 4.13 (which is working great by the way on UL) and Seti@home 4.05.

Hello there,

First thing, don't keep re-installing, you are probably delaying the credit system.

Secondly, what's happening is exactly correct, because, when you are using boinc, you have a host program as others have probably explained by now(currently boinc 4.13), this supports the science programs, one of which is seti@home, which currently is running version 4.05, Paul Buck has dedicated a hell of a lot of time and effort producing a Boinc documentation website, which will be able to answer all your questions.

To get better performance (instead of looks), it's better to only use the screensaver or graphics to briefly check whats happening every now and then, because it takes a lot of cpu cycles which could otherwise be processing the work.

Welcome to the project, happy crunching.
