I have been revising the works carried out by my computers, and I have the surprise that I have 194 results in state ckeck skipped that represent 7212 claimed credits and 2463815 working seconds. Does somebody know that it means the state check skipped, and reason this state are it is? examples: http://setiweb.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah/workunit.php?wuid=51182 http://setiweb.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah/workunit.php?wuid=112681 http://setiweb.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah/workunit.php?wuid=289440 http://setiweb.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah/workunit.php?wuid=576312 http://setiweb.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah/workunit.php?wuid=677181 http://setiweb.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah/workunit.php?wuid=893648 http://setiweb.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah/workunit.php?wuid=971434 http://setiweb.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah/workunit.php?wuid=1038603 http://setiweb.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah/workunit.php?wuid=1111353 http://setiweb.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah/workunit.php?wuid=1231216 http://setiweb.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah/workunit.php?wuid=1463165 http://setiweb.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah/workunit.php?wuid=1515511 http://setiweb.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah/workunit.php?wuid=1673340 http://setiweb.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah/workunit.php?wuid=1742707 <img>http://www.setisynergy.com/images/stats/comb-170.jpg</img> |

Everthing is counted in reaching this max - download errors, compute errors, Couldn't validate - missing file, etc. Once this limit is reached the workunit is thrown out. regards Z <img src="http://www.boincstats.com/stats/banner.php?cpid=e16795c0df46cd9701574ad087f14cf9"> |

Thanks for the explanation, znoga. What about this one: http://setiweb.ssl.berkeley.edu/workunit.php?wuid=2642311 There are exactly 8 results on this page, but three results (including mine, hostID 21781) look like they could be valid results. At least, all have the status "Over - Success - Done" and none of these three has an error or the validator state "Invalid". They just have "Check skipped". Now I am wondering, were they even looked at by the validator or did the last result coming in trigger an automatic "Check skipped"? Does it matter that my result has core client version 4.13 and the other results 4.09? |

I've even been sent out a work unit as the 8th recipient, and you process it knowing it's not even going to be checked or counted. You can't even delete such units from your cache as the work unit manager knows it's been assigned to you and when it comes to process it and can't find the unit, it just downloads another copy. To be honest, most of the problem is either caused when there's a mojor bug so a unit gets sent out many times, or because of a major bug, users keep resetting every 5 mins hoping it will fix things. This just adds another count to that unit and it soon reaches or passes the cutoff of 8. It would probably help minimise things if people didn't keep resetting the project at the first sign of trouble. But it's the same for everyone, so it averages out. the 8th result will be checked. More than likely there was no match among the 3 "valid" results. You need to understand the term "valid". "Valid" does not mean correct. All "valid" signifies is that the result was sent out, computed and returned without any problems. It still needs to match 2 other "valid" results. The way the validation process works 2 incorrect "valid" results can match and reject a single correct result which does not match them. regards Z <img src="http://www.boincstats.com/stats/banner.php?cpid=e16795c0df46cd9701574ad087f14cf9"> |

I do understand "valid", simply put it is a kind of majority vote. To me, "Check skipped" means that for one reason or another, the validator did not even take a look at the result. If the 3 results marked "Over - Success - Done" were looked at but did not agree, I would expect the status to be "Invalid" on all three of them. |
