An article in The Telegraph, a UK paper, says that the Film 'Creation', which is about Charles Darwin, cannot find a distributor in the USA because of opposition from Religious groups. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/northamerica/usa/6173399/Charles-Darwin-film-too-controversial-for-religious-America.html I find this strange for a country for a country where the first amendment to the 'Bill of Rights' basically prohibits religious bias. Would someone from that part of the world like to explain why, to a simple Englishman. |

I will not offend the Americans here. In general, Americans are not to religious, but a lot of them are. |

I think the real question should be; is the world too religious? My answer is yes to both. |

Is Iran too religious? Is Israel too religious? Is even Ireland too religious? Keep in mind that belief in God and "religion" are two different things. Religions are organized institutions with their own specific rules and bylaws. It's a pity that many people who are 'religious' blindly follow their religious leaders. Blind enough as a collective to donate so much money to be used by said leaders. Leaders who would rather spend it fighting a movie than feeding the hungry, clothing the poor, giving shelter to the homeless, etc. Unfortunately organized religion tends to give a bad name to every believer. me@rescam.org |

An article in The Telegraph, a UK paper, says that the Film 'Creation', which is about Charles Darwin, cannot find a distributor in the USA because of opposition from Religious groups. People here tend to think that because many came to "The Colonies" to escape religious persecution of "Christians" (where you settled depended on which type of "Christian" you were) that the United States was founded as a Christian Nation. It was NOT! Those wise men who founded our nation went to great pains to make sure that a person could practice any religion (or no religion). Unfortunately, the First Amendment to The Constitution guarantees Freedom OF Religion, not Freedom FROM Religion (which in today's environment would have made a lot more sense). Would someone from that part of the world like to explain why, to a simple Englishman. Many of us are hopeful that the Mayan calendar is right and 12/21/2012 will settle the whole mess. |

They are afraid of the boycott. Intolerance rules in Amerika. You have to be the winner, no matter how Pyrrhic the victory. Amerika is the land of the slave, home of the pwoned. It is actually Amendment One that causes this. Any damn fool can declare himself a minister and preach. It gives us such charismatic individuals preaching like Jim Jones, David Koresh, Marshall Applewhite, Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh, and even Charles Manson. As the government can't interfere such obvious mental cases get to air the position and convert (brainwash) the weak willed. Most of the time they just cull themselves so it is no great loss to society. Perhaps it is time for a reverse boycott. Refuse to do business with the religious. |

Is it possible there is no market for this movie here in the states? Id the film entertaining? There have been other movies released here that have been very similar (netflix has a few). I'm not sure how well they did and I doubt any of them become very popular. This is by no means a first. I have no objection to the movie. |

Well there was already a NG: Naked Science episode called 'was darwin wrong?' and after watching it I can say it was all about evolution trumping creation in every aspect. It was a very controversial episode. But it still aired. So is this movie even necessary? me@rescam.org |

PBS ran a segment on the Pennsylvania trail about intelligent design vs. Evolution. What's funny is the intelligent design folks handed over documents which showed that they basically carboncopied over the Creationist argument, replacing God with "intelligent designer". However they missed a spot where they had creaintelligent designertor in the publication. that aside Yes The US has a segment of under educated and very religious that are unwilling to even consider anything other than the bible as being the exact word of God. Funny how they ignore the murder, incest, contradictions, genocide and various other unsundry immoral or amoral behavior that God has propogated in his own name. God gave us a mind to think. So as a thinking person I can see that as a guide the bible is great. As an explanation of astrophysics and polymerase chain reactions it is not. The Bible doesnt say anything about ignoring or being ignorant about your own environment. It does attempt to prevent food borne disease(deuteronomy) and establish a moral stance that we should strive to find in our daily lives. Simply put "Be nice to each other." Watch Borat where he enters the pentacostal church. Tell me that isnt extreme. This church isnt isolated. In fact they are quite common. Then you have preachers talking politics instead of God during sermons. also not an uncommon event. Because of the constitution and BIll of rights Freedom of religion we are allowed to worship as we please when we please. Sadly this "right" brings in every weird bizarre religion from around the globe to find a home in the US. In a rich man's house there is no place to spit but his face. Diogenes Of Sinope |

as long as there are people who believes creation or "intelligent design" IT IS. (funny how they call it "intelligent design" and if you read bible , you´ll find god who is stupid and arrogant and vengeance, nothing like intelligent) (( should it be called stupid design?)) |
