I followed the recomendations given in this forum to download BOINC 4.11 from the alpha site (trying to solve the current upload problems). boinc_cli.exe goes into a crazy CPU loop. It does not matter how many W/U or how many project are attached. This is a lot worse than the previous HT reported problem (when only 1WU is left in the machine). I had to re-install back 4.09. |

It doesn't matter anyway. The same upload problem exists using Boinc 4.11. I have been running 4.11 for about a week and it ran ok until yesterday. Now I have the infamous upload problem as described elsewhere. Boinc....Boinc....Boinc....Boinc.... |

I am beginning to believe that the problem isn't software, but WU data. Some WUs are getting uploaded just fine while a vast majority of them are failing. I believe that if I were the dev team, (can there be a team of one?), I would be looking at the splitters and not the BOINC software clients. Just tried 4.12 alpha the "Pentium HT" problem still there! When using the GUI 'boincgui.exe' is in a loop using as much CPU as it can. When using the CLI 'boingcli.exe' it also goes crazy leaving little CPU for the actual SETI processes. |

I am running CP with SETI. I can tell CP is still trickling in results based on data on CPnet, but without being able to confirm with "results" or last known upload type stats on SETI's site it's hard to tell. When I check the terminal (Linux versions here) I see the upload failed messages. Also my total credit has been about the same for the last few days, but that's apparently from credit being granted from previous units. |

I don't think it's WU related .I've been Uploading successfuly since oct 9th 21:50:49 running version 4.05. 01mr4aa,16my4aa,14mr4aa most recent upload was at oct 12th 06:34:27 pst. I don't want to make any wild seculations or cause panic but to be on the safe side run your latest updated anti virus software. It couldn't hurt. i personally do think its Wu related. I think with all the server ups and downs some data has been lost to corruption. So when you return a completed work unit the validator can not validate it becuase the data is missing. I have found some WU's dated 14mr************ do not work but all other Wus do. I reset my project getting rid of all my 14mr Wu's, after that my uploads of other WU's were sucessful. Im still awaiting one last WU from 14mr*** and one from 01mr to be completed to test this theory. Unfortunately i finish work on 45 mins but wu's will be another 2 hours.... Just a thought of mine ====================== |

The file upload handler seems to be the problem and a fix is being tested in v4.12 alpha from what I have read. I have had some units with 01mr4aa that have the: 'Giving up on upload of 01mr04aa.18860.4641.761084.182_1_0: server rejected file' ----------

Join the Overclockers.com SETI Team! |

Hi TesasFit Im thinking, (from a simplistic POV) that this is not just a black and white problem. So far with my WU's and what i have read, its mainly 14mr***'s that are not working, i guess some others might not but this is the first i have heard that 01mr04's are not uploading. i wish this machine would do WU's faster jus so i dont have to wait til tomorrow to see if this theory is right or not.... BTW. im from England and travelled to TX. TX is THE place the live.... ;) |

This release is not just failing on the Pentium HT machines. All kind of Pentium HT and not HT, Windows XP, Windows 2000, Windows 98 etc etc. |

Well, even after resetting SETI, I'm still getting failed uploads. I've been reading about v4.12 Core Client and it seems to me that the good out weighs the bad. So, I am going to download it and install. I will see what happens after. If it's as bad as the bad reports say, I will downgrade back to v4.09. It seems that the dev team was convinced that there was a problem in the server software which prompted the v4.12 upgrade. I may have been wrong in my assessment that we were getting a lot of bad WUs, but, I will see after I start v4.12. It just looked too much to me like we got bad WUs. BOINC 4.13 is now available at the SETI website; no explanation about what's different. I had no problem with 4.12, but 4.13 is also running smoothly for me. (Two P4 Win XP home SP2) |
