Hi there,

I am looking to pick up a few older nvidia 9600 GSO cards. I'm curious to know if the BOINC client will be able to detect all of them.

They should work. It's listed on Nvidia's CUDA Endabled Products List though you should check out the threads on the subject in the Numbers Crunching area too for info on getting it to work.
