I hope I have correctly summarized the different threads on this topic. Computer sind nicht alles im Leben. (Kleiner Scherz) SETI@home classic workunits 3,758 SETI@home classic CPU time 66,520 hours |

No, that is not correct. The tasks aren't run by BOINC anyway, but always by the Project's science application. It can happen to anyone testing an Alpha or Beta version that they themselves lose all the work on their computer. But that's the risk of using development software. Work returned by development versions of BOINC is not thrown away though. It'll be used just as work returned by recommended and earlier versions will be used. |

You don't have to uninstall the old BOINC version; you can install the new one directly over the top of the old one. No work should go lost. As for the tasks running on your CPU, according to the results you returned, they are all run on your GPU. BOINC isn't capable of showing the time that your GPU takes on the tasks. It can only show CPU time. The CPU is used to transfer the data from disk to the videocard and back. Your results will show this amount of time as CPU time, while the GPU can take much longer than that to crunch the actual task. Yes, one CPU core is always used to supply the videocard with work, if there is work on your computer dedicated to CUDA (Seti 6.08 application). The other seems to be doing an Astropulse. As for your CPU load showing as 50% in Task Manager, this is a Windows thing. Windows can only show a maximum of 100% for all CPU cycles. So when you run with two cores, you show both running at 50% maximum. |
