Message 40645 - Posted: 27 Oct 2004, 15:08:44 UTC

About a year ago while running cli 3.03 we were having one of our down periods due to swamped servers. I posted a message saying that if the administrators would provide a recipient and an address that I was sure they would collect enough money to buy one hell of a server in a very short time. Not one response was made to this post. Maybe someone who likes to search archives would verify or debunk me on this.

Anyway, this present effort is a good thing and I have kicked in my paupers pence.

Greetings Siran of Vulcan,
With your incredibly developed look-ahead powers, I know you have already ascertained the answer to the question, and are asking simply because you know others lack your vulcanized gray matter and, thusly limited, are no doubt puzzling over the possibilities to no avail. Something like that? Am I close?
OK, anyway, it went to the SETI@Home Fund.
Live long and, well, you know...
Robert

Good effort. Looks like we moved the buck a bit. But it seems to have come to an abrupt stop.

I knew that. ;-) I just had to ask. There, of course, is no "Raid Hardware Fund". I do this kind of thing a lot just to see the response. Right on Bob! You caught me....

I believe that anyone would be hard pressed to stump me with Star Trek trivia. I have every epoisode of every incarnation of Star Trek on tape. As a matter of fact I have to stop in 2 hours to tape tonights episode of S.T.: Enterprise. I don't have all the movies, but I'll get them. I need to get them on DVD now. I'd like to transfer my tapes to DVD too, but that would be a great deal of work. I suppose I could just buy them already on DVD.... But, that would take the fun out of it.

Boy, are we off topic now. Hope folks don't mind. Maybe we should start a thread on SETI Cafe. However, since you're a Trekkor, how would you compare the last words of dialogue in the final episodes of the original ST series and the NG. I see significance in Captain Kirk's and Captain Piccard's final line, respectively. Wonder if you see it differently. Not exactly a trivia question but fun anyway in the asking. Let me know. :->
Again, apologies to everyone for the topic driftage.
Regards,
Robert

Hm, a Donation sounds not like a bad Idea; it's been a while since I donated last time.

500$ are being sent on the way :)
