The possibility that one day in the near or in the far future the people no longer walk on earth anymore isn't any science fiction.

The Nature one day it will make from us like with the Dinosaurs before some good fossils. Once the Nature decide it's over with us we will follow the faith of the Dinosaurs.

I know its crazy to say something like this, but from the other side all what we know from the past of earth history is that 5 Mass extinctions took place and as you know the process of evolution is an open process, just in case some of us believe we are the end of this process and nothing else can replace us, or even much worst remove us from the earth forever.

Hi petros,

Thanks for the video! Hard to imagine life without us, but anything is possible. Even after 5 mass extinctions something will evolve. Look at the cockroach it's still here.

Darwin's Theory Of Evolution will prevail, i believe.

So should I stop paying my bills or wait until that year

On January 1, 2012, I think I’ll quit my job and party-hard on the credit cards ‘till the big KaBoom.

You might want to wait until June of that year, since the big day isn't until December.

Give them less of a chance to catch up to you. ;)

There's no inherent reason we can't outlive this planet. I don't place the odds very high, but they are greater than zero. We won't be human of course, at least not by today's standards. The only way we could remain human is to implement a very strong program of genetic control and genetic engineering. Strange that, but I suspect it's true. The only way to stay human is to genetically engineer ourselves to be human. Otherwise drift will eventually change us into another species, even though we may still call ourselves "human".

The Mayan Calendar is something profoundly different than just a system to mark off the passage of time. The Mayan Calendar is above all a prophetic calendar that may help us understand the past and foresee the future. It is a calendar of the Ages that describes how the progression of Heavens and Underworlds condition the human consciousness and thus the frames for our thoughts and actions within a given Age.

The Mayan Calendar is not predicting the end of the world 2012, but the start of a new era.

Wait a second....

If you believe the Mayan calendar is a profound, then how come you don't believe that humanity was created from corn, that goblins can help farmers grow their crops, or that your penis must be cut and bled in order to bring the rain?

Heck, the most important dates in the Mayan calendar all relate to Mayan kings. In fact, the calendar explicitly gives the dates when certain kings MUST be worshiped. So how come you don't pay those dead kings proper homage?

hold on...I don't believe in the Mayan Prophecy. I was only pointing out that the calendar was not predicting the end of the world..and the start of a new era. Astrology is often mixed up in prophecy. lol, sorry, i don't have a penis that needs cutting.

Bye :-)

WHAT makes the Mayan Calendar so profound? It is true it fairly accurately describes the periodic cycle of this ball of mud we call earth around the galaxy in that a reorientation will occur at a certain point - this is true in most circles. To assign a historical significance to this re-orientation I think is the baliwick of religion and NOT SCIENCE.
2012 to me is no more significant than 2000 when planes were supposed to fall out of the sky and electric companies run out of product, and economic disaster would be rampant (so it came to pass 9 years later)????
As for day 0 - IT WILL COME TO PASS EVENTUALLY - it is fact that stars blow up EVENTUALLY - and earth's position in the galaxy has no basis in scientific fact that this will propigate such an event. I'd rather worry about whether or not the Yellowstone Supervolcano will erupt since it is grossly overdue from it's past history - which does NOT coincide with the Mayan Calendar.
