Remember a few years ago... when people still had compassion for other people... when filing for bankruptcy meant that your slate was wiped clean, and after five or so years, one could begin afresh... a second chance at life liberty and the pursuit of happiness... do you remember those days...

Good thing we changed all that, eh? ;)

Absolutely. Now you are going to have to pay back that money they never should have lent you.

The vast majority of American bankruptcies are due to medical expenses that wipe out family savings, not from borrowing more than you can pay back.

I'm in a hurry right now as Stewart Maclean, of CBC's Vinyl Cafe is performing in Prince George in one hour and I have tickets burning a hole in my pocket.

Ummm
I think you'd better check the dates

Your link was based on 2003 information
Two of my three links were up to date and one was based on 2005 filings

Of course, since the Bush administration changed the bankruptcy laws to make it virtually impossible for an individual to file for bankruptcy protection, I must assume that the number of citizens filing will be diminishing.

Is this the reason you believe that the numbers have gone down?

Bankruptcy over medical expenses is unheard of in most every Western and European nation due to the simple fact that citizens are protected from catastrophic medical expenses by government run healthcare systems.

Nowhere are citizens left twisting in the wind like those in America.

Doesn't it anger you that your elites treat you as if you had no value or right to exist? (unless you can afford that right)

Due to a broken leg back in 2002 that I couldn't pay for that I was forced to sign on the dotted line for before they'd do anything I was left in a hallway on a gurney in pain, I was told until You sign No pain meds and no surgery and they said My leg was life threatening too, In 2004 I was granted SSI(as the 5 year sliding window was already closed for SSDI and the 10 years that I paid in was effectively worthless) and was declared permanently disabled(I have other problems too), Did Medi-Cal cover the 2002 stuff? Nope Medi-Cal would only go back to 2003(I had no medical bills in 2003, Just in 2002), So with no rehab I struggled on with 3 titanium screws in My left leg worth about $16,000.00, The Hospital tried to get Me out with a brace that pinched Me when It was put on, 4 days later they got one out that was comfortable and that I could walk in. Would I go bankrupt If I could sure, But why? In a year or so what's left should be gone.

So JokerCPoC

Wouldn't you much prefer a single payer universal healthcare system over one that places citizens in debt for the better part of a decade for a broken leg?
Your's sounds much worse than the usual break, with the additional costs of surgery, but what does a person do when faced with cancer treatments, tumors or any of a vast range of human ailments?

I believe that protecting the healthcare needs of a nation is much more important than making sure some fatcat pigs don't lose a couple of bucks in their stock portfolios.

Funny how the commissars can find the funding for protecting the super wealthy but have spent decades telling the citizens of the U.S. that healthcare is out of the question because of costs.

What a wonderous playground for the elites.
They're like the kid who owns the only baseball bat in the neighborhood.
If the game doesn't go their way, they simply cancel the game by taking their bat home.

As a kid, how long would you have put up with that before you and your buddies went out and found your own bat?
There would be many choices...
1) make one...good choice
2) borrow one...short term solution
3) buy one...long term solution
4) take it from the spoiled kid...revolutionary ain't I?

Sure, But It wouldn't be much better than the IEHP than I've signed up for and It's Free. Besides It's not like I can pay much, I have trouble surviving as It is on SSI.

Even though some reform in the way of a persons savings, house and any moving and setup costs could stand to be modified, As in an allowance to be able to save up to $10K for Moving and Setting up ones Manufactured House(I own one), More If one needs to buy land and Setup the land for the House too instead of renting which may be more expensive(Water, Gas, Electricity, Telephone, etc).

Yer preaching to choir.

1) Unless You have the skills, wood and the Lathe, Not an easy task.
2) Providing someone one knows has one in the 1st place.
3) Possible, But I'm not into Baseball as an activity at this stage in My life, Watching the Dodgers or the Packers is enough for Me.
4) Take one by force? That's theft and uncivilized, I'd have no part in that, I have scruples.

Sorry, I'm no Kid not at 48yrs old, Although I do still have some of that today.

I have a couple of statements and a question...

I'm even less a kid at 51 years of age.
Your country was born of the fires of revolution.

My question is...where do you pin the jacket lapel flag? OUCH!

Sorry when I do wear clothes to go outside as theirs nothing free nearby(Resorts cost money & all, just for entrance to the place and for routine maintenance, Besides I'm too far from a beach of any sort), I don't own any flag pins or any other type of pins for that matter. Not every person here owns a pin here in the USA and most don't own any pins. It's like saying that every Italian owns a Lamborghini and I know that isn't even close to being true.

A friend of Mine owns one of those(a Countach like the one below), But cause of His height He had to lower the seats and He still barely fits, I wouldn't fit at all as I'm taller @ 6'1" and a bit heavier.

Wouldn't you much prefer a single payer universal healthcare system over one that places citizens in debt for the better part of a decade for a broken leg?

No, because that's rationed health care. Why not just have a system where 90% of the costs are cheaper than mobile phones, and medicines are cheaper than bread or milk? Odd how the poorest people in the US can afford bread and milk and mobile phones...

Your's sounds much worse than the usual break, with the additional costs of surgery, but what does a person do when faced with cancer treatments, tumors or any of a vast range of human ailments?

Well, if medicine and health care were cheaper than breakfast cereal, they would just go get what they needed done.

I believe that protecting the healthcare needs of a nation is much more important than making sure some fatcat pigs don't lose a couple of bucks in their stock portfolios.

Then explain exactly why you, and everyone that thinks as you do, just don't get together and provide health care for yourself if it's that easy? Why don't you and Moore and the rest of them actually DO this, instead of demanding that other people who you decry provide it for you? You guys can be your own "single payer" (heh). Why do you need to force me to pay for it too? I don't want it, won't pay for it, and won't receive any of it, and that makes me perfectly happy.

Funny how the commissars can find the funding for protecting the super wealthy but have spent decades telling the citizens of the U.S. that healthcare is out of the question because of costs.

That's called gov't. Something you are always begging to meddle in people's lives. Now you want to take MORE choice away from individuals, more money from those that can afford it the least, add more bureaucracy and waste.

That doesn't make much sense at all.

What a wonderous playground for the elites.
They're like the kid who owns the only baseball bat in the neighborhood.
If the game doesn't go their way, they simply cancel the game by taking their bat home.

His bat, his right. Kinda like your brother doesn't let anyone who shows up at his door borrow that motorcycle. He must be an elite.

As a kid, how long would you have put up with that before you and your buddies went out and found your own bat?

You shouldn't ever put up with. Go get your own bat from day one.

There would be many choices...
1) make one...good choice
2) borrow one...short term solution
3) buy one...long term solution

All smart. You should take this advice with your health care.

4) take it from the spoiled kid...revolutionary ain't I?

This is the initiation of force and theft. And if it's OK for you to take it from him, then it's OK for him to do the same to you if he doesn't have something that you do have.

That's brilliant.
Cordially,
Rush
