On August 27, 2008, The Discovery Channel will air a new episode of Mythbusters entitled “NASA Moon Landing”. This episode was created to challenge the wild but persistent urban legend that NASA never really landed humans on the moon in the 1960s and 70s.

This special episode was first announced on NASA TV in February of 2008. To film the episode, Adam, Jamie, and the rest of the Mythbusters cast chose to visit the Marshall Space Flight Center in Alabama. A team of Marshall scientists helped the Mythbusters with several of their tests.

Proponents of the Apollo Moon Landing hoax conspiracy theories insist that NASA and the US Government intentionally deceived the public by fabricating the manned moon landings. Although exact details from the episode are mum, NASA has reported that the Mythbusters’ tests included a feather, a weight, a lunar soil boot print, and a flag in a vacuum.

So the Moon Landings: Confirmed, Plausible or Busted?
I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that ...

Thanks for the link. I have a friend who thinks we never landed on the moon in the 60s and 70s, and we've discussed this topic in detail. I'd like to forward this link to him so that he can watch this episode (if he can) to see how he reacts to it.

What if the two guys (Jamie and that other one) suggest there's plausible evidence that we didn't?
LOL!

Neither can I. Thanks for the info Booby as believe it or not, I've just finished watching Tom Hanks "From Earth to the Moon" complete series on DVD. I grew up throughout the Mercury, Gemini & Apollo flights.

To even think of a cover-up or conspiracy is too much. There is just too many individuals involved in those projects for any cover-up not to have been leaked.

Look forward t seeing what the "Mythbusters" can do for this.

That seems to be the most popular explanation of the 21st century... ;)

(Yet, every whistle blower that does come forward is discredited as a conspiracy theorist.)

That may be true, but just for once, why can't people accept that man is intelligent & it actually happened!

Edit: - Or even better, the Chinese succeeds with their moonshot & beam back pictures - AND in those photos, the Lunar Rover from the Apollo shots are shown - What then?

Good. I am glad this is happening. I used to pick on my brother because he hated it when people would say we didn't land on the moon. I would sneak over to his house, or into his work and change his computers' homepage to a moon fake landing website. However, over the years my rage is growing. Landing on the moon is one of people's greatest moments. We gained so much tech because of it on top of that.

The nuts will claim that the Chineese are in on the conspiracy.

BTW, I watched it as it was happening. We went.

Results:

- Can't make a footprint on the Moon in a vacuum: BUSTED!

- Flag wouldn't wave as long as it did on the Moon in a vacuum: BUSTED!

- NASA slowed down the footage of astronauts to fake the gravity effect on the Moon: BUSTED!

- NASA used pulleys in the footage of astronauts to fake the gravity effect on the Moon: BUSTED!

They said more evidence than time for the show would allow. More info on the remaining data as well as full episodes online at: http://dsc.discovery.com/fansites/mythbusters/mythbusters.html

(I think I missed one test since I missed the first 15 minutes.)
