North American Union to Replace USA?

Here is A excerpt from the article

Secretly, the Bush administration is pursuing a policy to expand NAFTA politically, setting the stage for a North American Union designed to encompass the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. What the Bush administration truly wants is the free, unimpeded movement of people across open borders with Mexico and Canada

yes, that was horrible, i always hate when people start to use freedom in same sentence as patriotism, as they are different things and quite opposite to each other.

btw is it just a big highway from canada to mexico

Nope,

It's far more than a highway.

Apples and oranges, Rush,

We're talking about the entire enchilada, not just a social program.

If we can't run a medical program, how will we run a hemisphere?

Apples and oranges, Rush,

We're talking about the entire enchilada, not just a social program.

If we can't run a medical program, how will we run a hemisphere?

And yet you beg them to meddle in your life. You want incompetent bureaucrats running your affairs.

But the same thing applies: They aren't apples and oranges because you say so. They are both just gov't. Layers of gov't meddling, bureaucracy, waste, and corruption. That you happen to support x silly gov't program doesn't change that it's gov't and therefore doesn't mean it's anything more than the exact same thing. And it certainly isn't any different like apples and oranges--it's ALL just gov't.

And you seem to miss the concept: the whole enchilada is what skrews you. You cannot take parts out of the enchilada as if it won't screw you because it's all just gov't, lots and lots and lots and lots of gov't. And for every stupid piece that you want forced on others, there are other people who want their stupid piece forced on you. You can't have it both ways, if it's OK for you to force their crap on them, then it's OK for them to force their crap on you.

You should be thrilled.
Cordially,
Rush

Rush and I go way back to the old country for those who've noticed a little repetitiveness here.

And now back to our regularly scheduled threadage.

The question is:

Are you thrilled?

Are you thrilled?

No, I don't want your stupid programs or anyone else's stupid programs.

They're all just more gov't, more problems, more corruption, and they drive costs, for nearly everything, up.

Why do you fail to comprehend that the system you support is failing you, miserably, and causing all these problems that you want to avoid?

Rush, I understand that you are a supporter of laissez-faire capitalism, and just to clarify, when you criticise government interference you are not proposing that we do away with government altogether?

No, of course not. As I've said many times before, there are rational roles for gov't based on principles, that aren't subject to whim or fancy. Effective gov't and rule of law is important because people have a tendency to initiate force on others.

When the gov't initiates such force against others, without being limited by principles, that causes real problems. Pay attention to your oil prices, or the wars around the world or any number of endless examples of these problems.

Thank you for your lucid reply. I couldn't understand most of your posts because I seemed to have missed where you have 'said many times' about your thoughts on the role of government..
