Surely we don't need 2 threads on the same conspiracy over here and in the Cafe, about this BS? It's good to be back amongst friends and colleagues |

Surely we don't need 2 threads on the same conspiracy over here and in the Cafe, about this BS? So we should show A blinds eye to this topic and disregard any information that we come accross on the internet as well as the news? LETS BEGIN IN 2010 |

Surely we don't need 2 threads on the same conspiracy over here and in the Cafe, about this BS? No, we should not, and drawing attention to it is the right thing to do. One should not assume others have seen articles about it. That is one of the good things about so many posters, who have a wide range of individual interests and web site visits. However, the Cafe thread has links put forwards as evidence of commerce doing a wholesale trashing of the current internet, and for it's demise. This is hard to accept at face value. To me these all look like someone trying to drum up a conspiracy, which is what coloured my first post. It's good to be back amongst friends and colleagues |

Surely we don't need 2 threads on the same conspiracy over here and in the Cafe, about this BS? Very very true. It's a bit like Global Warming, and whether it is mans fault. In a hundred years the alarmists will either be proved right or wrong. In this case, the next 2 years should surface any real intent or whether we can go back to sleep! Surely we don't need 2 threads on the same conspiracy over here and in the Cafe, about this BS? This off the topic I see that the fuel prices in England as well as Scotland are sky rocketing! I saw that the Truckers in Scotland are protesting big time. LETS BEGIN IN 2010 |

Surely we don't need 2 threads on the same conspiracy over here and in the Cafe, about this BS? Yup, and no wonder ... the tax the Government imposes on the rocketing price of fuel means our diesel is nearly $10.00 per US gallon It's good to be back amongst friends and colleagues |

No more Usenet? Usenet is a system of newsgroups that provide threaded discussions as well as a way for Internet users to exchange files. Newsgroups have, unfortunately, been used for illegal purposes such as downloading pirated music and software and exchanging child pornography. This week, several major ISPs, including Time Warner, Verizon and Sprint - under pressure from the New York attorney general's office - announced that they will start limiting or eliminating access to Usenet newsgroups. This can include legit newsgroups as well as the questionable ones news groups LETS BEGIN IN 2010 |

If this is truly happening, and I don't doubt that it is...... It is due to our gov trying to stifle the free expression that is part and parcel of the inet today............ If this is truly happening, and I don't doubt that it is...... Uh huh...so child pornographers should be allowed " free expression " ?? I, for one, am GLAD when any access to that kind of crap is removed. If I had my choice, every single one of those kiddie porn loving b**tards would be put at the top of the Death List. If this is truly happening, and I don't doubt that it is...... I hate this (kiddie) porn stuff as much as I hate the devil... but to(plan to) close down ALL newsgroups just because there is porn in A FEW - isn't this like shooting sparrows with cannons? it's like planning to disconnect all telephone numbers because you can get phone-sex or worse on a some of them. Account frozen... |

If this is truly happening, and I don't doubt that it is...... I wasn't intending to say that it would be alright to shut ALL of the newsgroups down. Start with the ones that are allowing ( although I'm sure there is no real ' allowance ' ie permission involved ) access to child pornographers. If they move to another newsgroup...so sorry...they get shut down too. I believe in Freedom of Speech and Freedom of Expression...but child porn is something that I NEVER EVER condone in any way. If access can be denied for those lowlifes..well...I simply don't care what it takes. The phrase " one bad apple ruins the whole barrel " comes to mind. I am sure there are thousands upon thousands of newsgroup users who are completely honest and moral people. I simply don't care. I wasn't intending to say that it would be alright to shut ALL of the newsgroups down. Yep. And in essence, those are the arguments that are always used to take someone's rights away. "[You] simply don't care," that you are skrewing everyone to put a band-aid on something that you cannot stop. You shut down every newsgroup, and all the people you hate just use µTorrent or anything else they wish. Net result? You've skrewed millions of people out of the newsgroups, you've punished all of them, just to make yourself feel as if you've done something, when in fact, you haven't. You haven't stopped even one kid from being molested or any of them from trading the stuff. Good plan. Cordially, Rush elrushbo2@theobviousgmail.com Remove the obvious... |

Ten years ago I had a network tool that detected my ISP broadcasting my name to the world... I sent an email to the 'net police' with a screenshot of a traceroute associating my full name with my IP address... All they seemed to be concerned about was what program detected it... Within a week, the program was nowhere to be found on the internet, and the ISP is still in business to this very day... Make of that what you will... ;) (Personally, I think ya'll are being played like a deck of cards.) It may not be 1984 but George Orwell sure did see the future . . . |
