We come into this world with nothing and leave with nothing.
The part in between the two nothings is called life.

We all need to take stock of our lives at times, to make sure we are not going off the tracks.

One way to make sure is to realize when we've made a mistake or caused damage or cast aspersions upon another.
It's at these times, when our egos are taking the greatest bruising, that we must rise above ourselves and realize that there is no way out of the situation other than to apologize to the person we have damaged, insulted or wrongly accused.

The people who cannot seem to bring themselves to apologize, do so in the belief that an apology will somehow damage their credibility, when the truth is in fact that not apologizing is the greater cause of damage.

Very Zen.

Apologies are a very important part of life. They acknowledge the fact that one is not always in the right no matter how strongly one believes that one is. And can accept the fact that someone else may be right at times when one does not believe that they are.
If some would accept this as a truth, world peace would be much easier to achieve.

Tell that to the Iraqi's and Afghan's, and Pakistani's who have are living under the freedom and democratic wishs of my president G.W. Bush. Peace at the end of a rifle muzzle and democracy through occupation. What a world.

That's rather one-sided. You don't acknowledge the situation that led up to what you are complaining about, so I assume the reasons don't matter to you.

A while back, someone pointed out that 911 was a drop in the bucket compared to what we have done to them since 911... I would like to add that 911 was a drop in the bucket compared to what we had done to them prior to 911...

As horrid as 911 might have been, the fact remains, it was a drop in the bucket... ;)

How far back are you going? WWI? The Ottoman Turks? Maybe the Crusades? Abraham and his sons? How about back to the beginning of time? That would have to be a pretty big bucket considering the size of those "drops".

How far back are you going? [SNIP] Maybe the Crusades?

Looking back that far might not be a bad idea.
