This BOINC is incomprehensible.

If I can't carry on with Classic, I'll just give up.

Yes change can be such a bad thing.. It is tough executing an install program or script, attaching to a project and letting BOINC do it's thing.. What is incomprehensible about that? What part of "able to attach to muliple projects" don't you understand?

If you are having difficulty why not go to the Number Crunching portion of this forum and ask for help. Ignore the likes of Azwoody and ksnash, and read the Boinc Wiki Pages, unless of course you are a habitual complainer like azwoody ksnash.

I like Windows 3.11! Why did they have to mess with that and change it?

It can't be too incomprehensible, you've managed to install, attach, download, upload, report, and get granted credit. If you've got a problem now, surf over to Q&A/Help Desk area where people with questions are getting help. You may even find your problem with the answer already posted.

Next time just go quietly into the night, find a nice
corner to sit down, and suck your thumb. If you don't
like it, just go. We have already heard all the losers
complain about progress, another is just a fart in the
wind.

Guys, guys. Can we be nice?

There are a lot of people who have lost something they loved. They did not ask for Classic to be taken away but it has been.

We know it is for the best and that given time they will learn to love Boinc as we do. But until then we must be patient with them.

They are all hurting right now. Coming here is a first step. So let's be welcoming, and send them gently off to the right place with a kind word and a smiley.

:-) The right place where our friendly team of volunteers are waiting to help you.

Please be patient eveyone.

I wonder if you'd have these same thoughts if you had been reading these same complaints over and over for the past 18 months.

<choke> I agree <choke>

I think there is a site out there with canned BOINC vs Classic complaints..

Sorry Esme, but it gets real old after a while. They hit, they run, and yet they still crunch.. What is wrong with that picture???

.o0(think I should tell her I didn't ask for DOS 3.2 to go away either)

Have you stopped in at the HELL known as the Questions & Answers HELP DESK? I wouldn't send my enemies over there. Bless those poor souls who are over there repeating the same things over and over and over. And reading about what garbage and "S**T" BIONIC, BONIC, BOINIC, BINOC, BOINK, BOING and whatever else they can come up with as BOINC.

Sorry, but I just don't have any patience for rampant ignorance. I started up BOINC on my own and I'm no rocket scientist. That was before there was any Wiki for help or info. I just followed the directions in the e-mail and I've never had a problem ever. I also used my curiosity to look at and see what all the different things in all the account preferences did too. It didn't take me more than a few minutes to figure out how to stop the screen saver from gyrating all over the place. What is wrong with people? One thing these projects have shown me is that I never realized there are so many incompetent people out there that shouldn't be even allowed to touch anything more complicated than a radio or TV set.

Hey hey hey, we're only joking here! :-D And so are you, we all know that, but don't be so patronizing to people, they are all grown up people, who can decide for themselves what to do, and if they don't want to crunch BOINC, then neither you or anybody else can make them! They have already made up their minds when they come here in the Cafe to complain!

Just based on the title of this thread, don't you think we need to rename it "BOINC Plenty, Classic 1" ??

Since BOINC doesn't crunch one bit... but the what? 25 projects around now? No we don't need all the names, just an acknowledgement... The 25 science applications that one can attach to under BOINC. Will they be enough to take away your doubt? :)

Some also refer to Boinc as BONK.

You don't have to go there yourself, just point the "poor souls" in our direction and we'll try to give them a hand. A boilerplate file along with copy/paste is a big help over there. 8-)

Wow! Looks like I missed the lynching. Body parts all over the place, Dog is done chewing on a leg bone, Fuzzy finally finished joking, bummer!

And tasty too, went well with the cranberry sauce.

Of course you are right, but I have to observe that as a whole (with some exceptions on both sides) there has been far more hatred, animosity, and name calling from classic users than from BOINC users. I can understand how sometimes we BOINC users just get fed up. I don't mind answering questions, but it can get tiring being the target for some people who are socially mal-adjusted. Since classic will go away so soon, I agree that our attitude should be helpful and understanding. I might suggest helping those with legitimate questions and not wasting time with those bitter people who are just trying to trash BOINC.

Amen, reverend...and that's from a non-believer.

Now here's that pesky squirrel gone and hid?
