Would like to know if and how I can copy a WU to install later. I'm going to be replacing my HD and I want to know if I can just copy a Project folder and paste it on the new HD. My C@H will NOT be done in time.

Hi Ricky,

Just make a backup of your complete boinc folder, and copy it to some spare place on your new HD.

You could start boinc directly from this folder, but it's maybe better to reinstall boinc,
and copy the backup over the new installation after that.
This will enable autostart et al.

Regards Hans

A workunit has a deadline if you miss it the unit is sent out to someone else to crunch. IF you get your result in BEFORE the other people get the results in your crunching will be rewarded. If not, you will nto get credit for the unit. It seems to be better in your case to just let it expire and someone else will get credit for it, just stop crunching when you come to a unit that you know you can't finish.

I don't think I have to worry about that. My C@H deadline is Oct 06. My new HD will be here in about a week from Dell.

Then you can do what Hans Dorn said, just make a backup of the Seti directory and after installing THE SAME VERSION you are now using just copy the saved directory over top of the newly installed one. I believe Boinc, like most programs these days, installs stuff all over the hard drive, so installation is necessary.
