I just moved over to Boinc, and it downloaded everything just fine. It did 6 work units, two at a time, then uploaded them, and downloaded some new work units, but when I check my account it says I have zero credits.

Plus, it also is about 140 work units off on my classic numbers! (This is the new page for my account, not the one on the setiathome.berkeley.edu site). What gives?

I stopped using Boinc, so that I could get to 2500 work units with Classic.

Any thoughts?

Stevarian,

Credit is based upon the redundancy of analysis. In order for a result to be
properly validated, WU's go out to 3 different PC's for analysis. Once all
three results are returned and the results are the same, it is
considered "validated" and then you will receive "granted credit."
Your "granted credit" is usually the mean of all three returned results (or the
smaller of 2 results if only 2 were returned and have the same results). You
will see that you have "pending credit" once you have returned a result (but
no "granted credit"), but it has yet to be validated because not all three
results have been returned (or they were but did not match. In this case, the
WU will be re-distributed to a 4th participant. Hopefully, when the 4th
participant returns their result, it will match the other 2 and then you will
receive "granted credit"). So it may take quite a while to get "granted
credit."

Check out this link about how the credit system works:

As for the discrepancy in your SETI Classic stats on your BOINC page, they did a database "snapshot" on May 15 to migrate all our stats over to BOINC. No "official" word on whether or not they will do a final "snapshot" once SETI Classic is shut down for good. However, there has been talk on these forums from Rom (one of the BOINC Dev Team members) that they're working on it. Again, no "official" notification on any of the 3 sites (SETI classic, SETI2, or BOINC main site).

Check out this link on the transition:

In addition to what Ranz said, when a unit is finished, it is first UPLOADed to the servers (this is almost immediate), then it must be REPORTed before it even shows up as being completed by you. Look on the Work tab to see if any units are in "Ready to Report" status; the next time your BOINC client contacts the server to get new work units (NOT to upload anything), it will report them.

Thanks guys,

Between the two of you, you answered my questions. I had tried the "pending credit" on my account page, but it keeps saying it has been temporarily disabled. I was just used to having my work units credited immediately when they were uploaded.

Thanks again!
