Sorry about that I didn't mean to come over touchy, I was merely wondering why you had used my post to explain about the one before, I apologise if I seemed a little brusque. That's ok :-) People get a little adversarial here sometimes so you get to expect it. Reality Internet Personality |

I once Googled my girlfriend, then my wife found out about it. Now I only Google her... It is a sad sad day when someone takes your spoon away from you... |

Wait a second, I thought the whole point of a "warp" drive system was to bend space. That is to make 2 distant points exist at roughly a single point at the same time, so acceleration and deceleration shouldn't matter. If we could do this, we could walk the distance between here and a couple million miles away (and even the most out of shape of us could do so) without breaking a sweat. The effect would be traveling distances at a rate greater than light, but the velocity of the craft would be far less. The "bubble of normal space" can be thought of as riding in a submarine. The bubble is slipping thru spacetime as a really good clip, but the ship is not moving within that bubble at all... while the sub is slicing thru the ocean, the pilot isn't walking along the inside of the sub. The pilot has to do something to manipulate the sub's movement, but he/she isn't running or walking. The "compressing and stretching" model would also have little or no discernable movement within the craft, but I'm at a loss for a simple analogy. Neither one, however, is connecting distant locations. That is more like Dune or the Stargate. Aside from a dependance of Dune's Spice or Stargate's naquata, instant transport would seem to be a lot more desirable :-) No animals were harmed in the making of the above post... much. |

I once Googled my girlfriend, then my wife found out about it. Now I only Google her... I googled your wife once... The stargate doesn't depend on the Naquadah it is only made from Naquadah. It is dependent on the power used in the ring generated from the electronic found in DHD. Now if you can find another element that can excite neutrinos enough to create an artificial wormhole can still make a Stargate. There is always the hyperdrives.. Again Spice was not needed to preform FTL travel in Dune. It was needed to ensure the Navigators stayed on course. The world of Star trek required Di-Lithium to channel the Matter/Anti-Matter stream without the complete destruction that would normally because by matter meeting it's anti-matter. We have yet to see what "element" is required to maintain the FTL drives on Battlestar Galactica, but I am sure will will soon enough. .o0(methinks I watch too much TV) I'd rather speak my mind because it hurts too much to bite my tongue. I'm not sure why I saw as much similarity in Warp Drive to my own "faith". I guess which ever bears out, will require us to manipulate gravity. Still looking for something profound or inspirational to place here. |

anatomy of a star wars geek What if you are a female Star Wars geek? Have you cartoon for that? Or is it like Queen Victoria's attitude to Lesbians? (i.e women are incapable of such "gross indecency") :-) Reality Internet Personality |

anatomy of a star wars geek Admittedly not as funny, but it was the best I could do. Join TeamACC Sometimes I think we are alone in the universe, and sometimes I think we are not. In either case the idea is quite staggering. |

I thought it was just me and it was the whole Mundayweb thing all over again so I didn't like to say anything. Kinhull, you'd better post something really funny now to make up for it. Reality Internet Personality |
