The program requested I update the BOINC program. Once I did this, it then informed me that it will wait for 4 weeks, 4 days before attempting to connect again. I have since shutdown and restarted with no change other than a reduction from 4 days to 3. I would really like to know why I have to wait an entire month for this thing to start up again. I am beginning to wonder about continuing with this thing. I have been a member since Oct, 1999, and never remember having anything like the problems I have been experiencing since the move to BOINC.

Did it request that you update to Version 4?
Where the heck did you find anything called "Version 4" to update to?
The download page only has Version 3.20, which CLEARLY is NOT "Version 4".

@ Cliff. Go to the projects tab, right click on the project and select "update" This will attempt a manual update instead of waiting a month. However, the project is a bit short of work at the moment...

@MPBroida. Nowhere does he say he upgraded to version 4.

Oops, you're correct. After seeing all the other posts about the supposed "Version 4", and seeing "4" at several points in his post, I hallucinated that he specified what he updated to. My bad. Thanks for the correction.

Open the BOINC interface and click on the "Project" tab. You should see SETI@home listed in the window. Right-click the project name "SETI@home" and you should see a small dialog--the second one down says "update". Left-click "update" and you should get a message saying that BOINC is trying to connect to the server. If it fails, it may tell you that it will try again in anywhere from 1 minute to 4 days (I have not seen more than 4 days). Keep repeating the update process until it either connects and downloads some work or it says it will connect again in 10 minutes or less. Good luck.
