Rob, now I can't post a reply in the NC thread I had problems with before, and I can't post in your "More forum breakage" thread. |

Rob, now I can't post a reply in the NC thread I had problems with before, and I can't post in your "More forum breakage" thread. What kind of problems are you seeing? Give me an error message or something... and steps taken to reproduce it. Also your browser version (you really should be using Firefox... any forum code I've written has been optimized for Firefox with IE and Opera support only added later - and some things just don't work in IE due to IE's crappy standards support). Rob, now I can't post a reply in the NC thread I had problems with before, and I can't post in your "More forum breakage" thread. Rob, if theres a "&" in a sig image url that url is chopped off at that point. So either the image in the sig doesnt work or the wrong one is displayed. .o0(and I wish I knew where you were reading so I could keep this in one place) |

Rob, now I can't post a reply in the NC thread I had problems with before, and I can't post in your "More forum breakage" thread. It sounds like Tom is having the same problems I am. In some threads you won't see all the avatars and then clicking to reply to the thread usually ends up getting you a 404 - Page not found error. You'll also get the 404 error clicking on the links to get back to the menus on occaision. I've been seeing this throughout the Seti forums since yesterday. {edit} As far as the avatars, if the thread is missing any avatars, I'm going to have problems with it. The +/- discussion thread in NC is one I cannot do much of anything with so there may be a clue in that one as to what's causing it.{/edit} Again, these are what I'm experiencing but it sounds like Tom is experiencing them also. To truly explore, one must keep an open mind... |

For folks that are lazy like me, and who are using Firefox, there's a handy little extension called BBCodeXtra that provides a popup menu when you right click inside a message input window. From there you can select the various color, size, url, etc, etc, bbcode stuff and just point and click or fill in the blanks as you're prompted and it adds the completed bbcode string at the cursor location. It's worked well on any board I've been on that uses bbcode. As for the strangeness that's happening for some users, I recall a while back one board... I think it was a YaBB board... started acting funny with certain links, buttons, and other features working fine for some, but totally broken for others. That was found to be caused by a small bug in some java code that didn't like any browser user.agent name other than Mozilla 5. Until they squashed the bug users had to 'fool' the board by manually adding a useragent string that the board could digest. |

I'm wondering if I missed an htmlentities() call somewhere. What URL does the "reply to the thread" link send you to? As far as the menus are concerned - I wonder if S@H is having some oddball issues? That code has been untouched as far as I am aware. Are you able to respond to individual posts? If not, what happens when you try? Additionally, what web browser (name and version) are you using? When you hit one of those 404's, can you "View Source" and save that HTML somewhere to email to me? :-) Rob |

Rob, here's what I got when I tried to reply to a post in the "A message concerning +/- voting" thread in NC: Not Found The requested URL /forum+AF8-reply.php was not found on this server. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Apache/1.3.33 Server at setiweb.ssl.berkeley.edu Port 80 Also, avatars don't show for me there, but they do in this thread. When I am done posting this, I will try to re-post in this thread and see if that may be the problem. If I can post here, I will do it, but if I can't in about five minutes, you can assume I was unable to do so. |

Rob, Why does this also show up on the Orbit@Home "Your Account" page?: "Would you like to make a tax-deductible donation to SETI@home?" I can understand it being on S@H & S@HBeta, but Orbit? |

Rob, Why does this also show up on the Orbit@Home "Your Account" page?: Probably because Pasquale forgot to change the linking on Orbit when he got the most recent version of the scripts. He said he was going to update to the latest and greatest version before starting to send out test units and I guess he missed recoding the link. To truly explore, one must keep an open mind... |

Is anybody who is *NOT* running IE seeing this error? Do you all see the "+AF8" in the "Not Found" URL before the dash when it happens? Rob |

Rob, I'm using Firefox & I see stretched threads here & there, but haven't had the problems he has run into. |

Using Firefox 1.0.6 on Linux, noticed in one thread (possibly Cafe Seti) that the +/- buttons (didn't try to use them) were on top of each other, no probs otherwise, could post fine. PS: Nope, wasn't 'Welcome to Cafe Seti' or any other I rechecked, probably just a graphical glitch. Need help? Check out the excellent Unofficial BOINC-Wiki! 'We are the BOINC. Prepare to be assimilated.' |

Is anybody who is *NOT* running IE seeing this error? Do you all see the "+AF8" in the "Not Found" URL before the dash when it happens? Switching to Opera to test the board (since they were giving the reg keys away recently) and trying it with Netscape as well, I don't have the 404 not found problems I had using IE with the Seti board. It looks like an IE problem. I wish browsers would interpret coding all the same way because Opera and Netscape don't show some sites as well as IE does since some sites are set up for IE. More clues: I am not having the problem in all threads (I'm not sure what distinguishes the threads that have the problem from those that do not); I'm not having the problem on some computers; all my computers run IE under Windows XP. |

Oh, and I just checked again and I can't post a reply in the "A message concerning +/- voting" thread in NC. But, as you can see, I can post here. |
