WinXP, dialup user. I successfully installed SETI @ BOINC, but for 4 days now, I can't get it to send me any work units. (Yeah, I know about the server outages, but 4 days, something's wrong). Messages keep saying connection deferred. Each time I get that, it's deferred for an even longer period of time than the last message. I'm now up to nearly 2 days of "deferring" a connection attempt. Best I can tell, if I'm not on the internet that VERY moment it wants to hit the server, it delays the next connection attempt for an incredibly long time and it gets longer each time it fails. What's wrong with writing software to hit the server when I dial up ? Either automatically, or if I manually connect it ? I tried killing the client & restarting it. Rebooting the PC, etc. Nothing will force the client to go to the server when *I* want it to rather than a random point of time in the future. |
