The rash of troubles SETI seems to have with its servers indicates to me that the basic system design is flawed and in bad need of a complete rework. Either that or SETI is trying to squeeze money out of someone. Possibly students are doing work that should be undertaken only by the professors themselves. I could understand a few minor problems but the ones SETI has are stalling its entire public system. What do you think ? [b]UNIVERSAL ENTROPY is little more than the seeking of equilibrium, If there is a grand unifier, it is Entropy. With A 3 Deg Universe - Why Not expansion Too since any temp == Pressure , Have a nice day.{/b] |

Have you been to the Classic site since the 18th of August? A Mr. Nick Cole seems to feel as you do. He started a thread in the "number crunching" forum of this site. Many replies are there that might help you. My thoughts are also there. hope this helps tony Design Flaw this is a link to that thread. |

SETI is trying to squeeze money out of someone. What do you think? So that's why I'm broke. It's SETI's fault. me@rescam.org |

On a more serious side, when you think of the millions (and more) of work units, results, bandwidth traffic, scheduling, analysis, database manipulation etc etc which goes on in Seti and indeed BOINC overall. It is a wonder not only that it doesn't crash every second day, but that it works at all as well as it does. My hat comes off to the guys running it. |

It is so nice to be among those who know what 42 is ! One return trip to 4th grade elementary school. This time without the calculator to cheat the year through. :P |

You do not seem to understand the basic nature of the answer. 42...54....as you answer the question the answer keeps getting bigger. It is just entropy doing its nasty work. It is what will get us all in the end. If there is a grand unification, entropy shall have to be part of the equation. I understand energy and matter is just different states of the very same stuff that means from hydrogen to lead even though their behaviors are different it is still the very same stuff. Everything we know is just different states of the very same stuff thanks to entropy. Deep thought could only count the number of letters involved it lacked the artistic sense to call it all entropy. [b]UNIVERSAL ENTROPY is little more than the seeking of equilibrium, If there is a grand unifier, it is Entropy. With A 3 Deg Universe - Why Not expansion Too since any temp == Pressure , Have a nice day.{/b] |

You do not seem to understand the basic nature of the answer. Word of advice, don't hit the button more than once, there are people waiting to mercilessly flame users who post the same message more than once, i can testify to this. Life on earth is the global equivalent of not storing things in the fridge. |
