After creating a new BOINC account, getting my accound ID, etc. I am unable to "Attach to project" on my PC using the new BOINC software for the reason given in the Title of this question.

I am able to log on via a web browser (and submit this question).

Does BOINC require that I uninstall my old Seti@home software?

What must I do to get back to our number crunching?

Apparently you did not attach to the project for the moment as you do not have a PC referenced under your account.

The URL to attach to the project is "setiathome.berkeley.edu" (without quotation marks).
Once you are attached, you should be able to see some activity in the tab "Messages".

You might have a look at the Owner's Manual for a detailed explanation of the interface.
